Note that Megatunix is obsolete.

Megatunix and SGI IRIX?

Post by Rev.Bubba »

Anyone running it on IRIX? If not I will test it out and get help with it from the SGI comunity. Being POSIX compatible should make it work.

I will use linux if I must but something about have a beast like the Octane2 in the garage is appealing.

I am also curious about the opengl support.

This is going to be used on a 1971 Fiat 500. Upgrading to 600cc cylinder head with high conpression pistons. Should be sweet.

Cheers,
Rev.

If all the pre-reqs compile on it (might take some effort) it should be doable. i.e. if gnome works on IRIX then megatunix should, as they share most of the same prereqs.

All SGI's had openGL to the best of my knowledge (been ages since I had my hands on an SGI, was old octane's, some O2's and a Fire engine red cad workstaition (the kickass red cad workstations that cost more than most cars at the time )

Well the GTK and GTK2 packages can be installed so I will try it. I will play with it once the Stimulator arrives and I will let you know. I have always wanted a better excuse to have the SGI in the garage other than surfing the net for info.

Thanks for contributing Megatunix to the comunity. I was a bit sad for a bit that I was going to have to run Windows once I learned about Megasquirt.

Minim requirement is GTK+ 2.6 or newer, gtkglext-1.x or newer, libglade-2.x , but if at all possible see if you can find 2.10.x or GTK+ or better, as you get cairo rendering (full antialiasing) which makes things render oh so much nicer.
