Can't seem to change the comm port...

Questions specific to Megatunix - alternate tuning software that runs on unix and windows.
Note that Megatunix is obsolete.

Can't seem to change the comm port...

Post by Jesse »

All,

I loaded up Megatunix on my laptop running windows Vista (blech) and it seems to run ok. The problem I am having is that it is auto-detecting COMM 3 and I need to change it to COMM 4. I can highlight where it says "Comm 3", but I can't delete it or retype in anything. Am I missing something here?

(There's no window to select another comm port and I don't understand why can't type over it. Must be spoiled by Windows...)

Thanks much!

0.9.15 has serial auto-scan. It should scan ALL ports (all defined in the config file) and even if u have a port, if there is NO MS connected to it it should open, check for an ECU and if not found, move on, thus skipping that port. If you have BAD device drivers that cause things to hang you can remove that port from the config file so mtx won't even try to san that one..

To prevent it from even scanning that port edit c:\program files\megatunix\.megatunix\config and remove COM3 from the potential_ports line.

NOTE: vista is NOT recommended as I have no way to check it nor the resources or money to buy 6 different versions, and suitable hardware to test and qualify mtx on, you'll get far superior performance and compatibility on windows XP or Win2k, which I DO test and qualify megatunix on.

I also had a problem with 0.9.15, it auto detected the wrong com and got a could not detect firmware error after interrogation. Maybe in the next version you can make the com selectable?

Did you have multiple ECU's connected??

did you try filtering out the comm choices it scans in c:\program files\megatunix\.megatunix\config ?

I added a feature into 0.9.16 (in progress) to override serial port autoscan and manuallly punch a port in. It remembers the setting between runs as well..
