No connection to ECU, new install.
I just downloaded the new install and all worked OK. However once the app is opened it stops at the scanning ECU phase and will not do anything to connect.
Now I know there is no comms problem with MS as Megatune connects OK.
It's MS1 V3.
I can run the offline mode but seems there is no connection for online. I tried manuall resetting the PC port but still no joy.
It's Win Me and I have downloaded the GTK recommended.
I really would like the app to run as I need to trigger check.

If you have anything less that 029x it won't talk to it.. 029 has been out for so long I found it wasn't worth the hell of trying to support the deprecated versions..

I gave up on it. It would display that it was interrogating the ECU and then hang the computer.
It's the latest code in the MS.
I tried on another laptop with XP with it's version, this time it stopped on DLL's which I searched out and found at least 5 other copies with the same name. I renamed each +2 letters except the system versions and then it would work. However that laptop is unusable at my home.
I wondered if it was the sam on Me but it doesn't appear to use the same DLLs.

I had to connect three to make my programmer work, unlike just the two needed for the Megatune.
You should use a STRAIGHT THRU DB-9 M to DB-9 Female cable which u can get at any semi-decent electronics store, or a USB to serial adapter.
3 pins are needed at minimum, transmit, receive and ground.

I followed the instructions to the letter. I loaded the GTK+ runtime as recommended for the system.
The DLLs were not hand installed but instead I renamed the other copies temporarily. Megatunix was referencing the wrong DLL and giving the error I've seen in another post. "Cannot find entry point in xmlparse.dll" or similar.
It was this DLL that had other copies of the same name that obviously were used by other programs. Changing the one in 'system' by adding '2' to the end of the name, and leaving the others made it work. It was just temporary to get it to work.
I downloaded the Slax Linux bootable iso image and made a CD. It worked first time on this laptop and ran MegaTunux OK. Alas it will not work on the garage machine.
Nice system but the video 'frameset bpp' is not supported on the chipset in the garage machine, it's an old Athlon 600mhz with inbuilt AGP graphics card.
I tried all the modes, VESA mode produced the Slax 'trainers' but it would not get past the cursor and hung.
I would recommend that anyone having problems with Windoze make a copy of the disk and run it direct, it is really good. Has to be a newer machine than mine though.
The com cable is straight through but has 4 connections, screen is one of them plus trans/receive and I think 'DTR'.

OK now solved.
I wiped the install and tried again, this time I downloaded the GTK Developers 2.6.10 edition first, then the Megatunix 0.9.14 and they both worked first time.
Happiness, as system now works and trigger logged.
Sadness, as the triggers are spot on, so that's not my problem
Thanks.
