Very slick! Please zip those gauge and dash XML files up and send them my way for inclusion into the next release of megatunix.

As requested on faceytube. Its not my account, its a mates account. but i got the message :)

I have 2 files, day and night. hope they can be of use to you. Obviously the gauges have changed since that video.. It rev's properly now (i set the rev limiter ridiculously low in case anything bad happened)
Its sized for my 800x600 LCD, with a double size task bar (i use litestep for winXP because i couldnt get decent GPS software for linux :( )

Here's mine in full screen mode:

(The AFRerr gauge shows the difference between the wbo reading and the AFR that SHOULD be seen as per the AFR table) - this is my most important gauge )

I'm not sure this is the right place to post this question but it is related to dashboards so it seems close. When I click the button to load a dashboard and select any.xml dash MegaTunix closes. Is this normal when I'm not connected to the ECU?

I'm new to Megatunix but followed the setup and update instructions, which loaded all the latest ecu configs up to 3.2.4 so I thought I had things working properly.

What OS, and release (windows, linux, mac), what version of megatunix? i.e. 0.9.23 from SF.net or a git build, if git, which hash, and did you try the latest from git?

Linux Mint 13 XFCE, megatunix_0.9.23-lucid.deb from http://sourceforge.net/projects/megatunix, then did the git update, git clone git://github.com/djandruczyk/MegaTunix.git, etc

Everything seemed to run and complete but I have Megatunix in 2 folders automotive and accessories. When I launch MegaTunix I see the latest ECU's but when I select a dash MegaTunix closes.

I'm probably doing something I'm pretty new to Linux.

Completely uninstalled Megatunix, updated everything including the support files and installed from a fresh git compile. This time Megatunix only shows up is Accessories Menu. However, I'm still having the same problem on selecting, General, Choose a Dashboard File, click open(any dash) Megatunix closes.

As a final attempt, I removed the git compile. The just let The Debian Package Installer install the Sourceforge file. This puts Megatune back in both Accessories and Automotive but still the same problem on selecting, General, Choose a Dashboard File, click open(any dash) Megatunix closes.

This must be an issue with Mint or xfce.

Since you installed the old binary from sourceforge and then installed on-top/inparallel from a git build, that's the problem (old style config files).

in your git Megatunix dir run the following to purge the parallel installs:

Code: Select all

sudo make uninstall
sudo apt-get purge megatunix
sudo rm -rf /usr/local/share/MegaTunix /usr/share/MegaTunix
sudo make install
sudo ldconfig
and it should work better.

I just followed your steps exactly and I'm still having the same issue. Thanks for the help. I may throw a different distribution on the machine and see if it works. If you want me to try something else with Mint let me know.

I decided to try again tonight with a clean install. I ran Megatunix from a terminal window. The gc-friendly is NOT set occurs after selecting the ECU and clicking the load button. Everything else happens after selecting General, choose a dashboard, open. Is this helpful in figuring out what's wrong? Thanks in advance.

That's a difficult one to trace. I'm nearly positive it's a GLIB bug, though the report I filed to the glib/gtk+ people over 6 months ago hasn't had any action taken on it by their developers.. Can you try the following below?

We need you to install the debug symbols for glib and gtk, so try and install the following packages from your repositories:
sudo apt-get install libglib2.0-0-dbg libgtk2.0-0-dbg libc6-dbg
in your git working copy, we need to build a version with debugging symbols turned on internally
make clean
./configure --enable-debug ; make ; sudo make install ; sudo ldconfig
gdb src/.libs/megatunix
run --g-fatal-warnings
run it as usual till it crashes
Then type "info threads" and it should list out whatever threads were running (copy and paste that here or to pastebin), basiclaly a thread number and then info about the thread numbers are important, you'll need them for the next step. For EACH thread in turn run "thread <threadnumber> from the list you just saw, and run "bt" (backtrace) and copy and paste the output from EACH thread to either here or pastebin, repeat this for EACH thread.

Thanks!
It would also help to know what version of libglib2 you have installed. (dpkg -l |grep libglib2.0)
