Hey. MTX crashes for me when I try use offline mode.

Code: Select all

$ megatunix -rsd
debug option "1"
version option "0"
quiet option "0"
no rttext option "1"
no status option "1"
no maingui option "0"
autolog_dump "0"
autolog_minutes "5"
autolog_dump_dir "(null)"
autolog_basename "(null)"

(megatunix:4475): libglade-WARNING **: could not find signal handler 'notebook_page_changed'.
Is this a bug or is it my fault?

Thanks for all the time you put into this. It's great software.

Did you do the typical, ./configure ; make ; sudo make install in the megatunix-0.9.18 dir? (it won't run unless it's installed as it can't find it's config files....)

Hard to say, what OS, and how far along did you get in the GUI before it crashed? If you got to firmware selection, which one did you pick?

What was the mistake if I may ask? It would be helpful to know what you did wrong, so I cna find a way to make the build or install procedure this more clear to others who might make the same error.

I had copied the 0.9.17 binary to /usr/bin/ and not updated it after the upgrade. Now I have created a symlink to /usr/local/bin instead. Is there a way to have it install to /usr/bin instead of /usr/local/bin?

The logviewer is still not working for me though - It is giving a 'Floating point exception' when I select any of the variables. I've tried it in debug mode too, but it didn't give any more info. I am running ArchLinux.

Cheers.

For the logviewer, are you using realtime mode (shows live data), or playback mode (shows from a logfile)? If from a log can you zip up the log and pm it to me?

First thing though would be to clean out the old stuff..

Code: Select all

rm -rf /usr/local/bin/dashdesigner /usr/local/bin/gaugedesigner /usr/local/bin/megatunix /usr/local/share/MegaTunix /usr/bin/megatunix
Then to make it install under /usr go to the megatunix-0.9.18 source dir and run the following:

Code: Select all

 ./configure --prefix=/usr ; make clean ; make ; sudo make install

Hi.

I have removed everything and reinstalled like you recommended, but it still crashes.
The error is in realtime mode, but in playback mode it crashes aswell, except this time I get

Code: Select all

!! ERROR, bug detected, code to detect precision in logfiles isn't written yet!!!!
 Please slap the author
when loading the logfile, then

Code: Select all

Floating point exception
when selecting variables. This happens as soon as I click any variable.

Cheers.

Strange, i don't get the crash. What firmware does megatunix detect (see the general tab)? There's probably a bug in one of the Realtime variable map files that is specific to your firmware release.

I'm seeing the real time log errors with msns-extra-029y4 derived firmwares since .17 on linux. Have not confirmed this on windows. The last I successfully used realtime logs is .16.

I did not report yet as I wanted to confirm it was not my tweaked profile. (same files as 029yx, just different firmware revision & signature strings) Yes, I did update the maps & profiles at .18 due to the "api" change. Have learned to watch for changes on releases.

Have confirmed with box stock msns-extra-029y4 that the playback gives the "slap the author" precision error.

Trying to do it live causes a hard exit with no log entry once you select a variable.

Thanks, & have a good holiday!

I tried installing MTX on another laptop which runs Ubuntu and got the same crash, so that would also suggest the firmware.
I am running MS/Extra hr_10e.

Would you expect the latest hr code to work fine?

Thanks

yes i would, and i test with that firmware on my dev machine. It would help if you recompiled thecode using the "--debug" flag to ./configure , i.e.

Code: Select all

./configure --enable-debug ; make clean ; make ; sudo make install
Then if it still crashes, run it under gdb (might need to install it with sudo apt-get install gdb) "gdb src/megatunix", type "run" at the gdb prompt to start it and when it dies, type "bt" (backtrace) to gdb and copy me all the output.

I just tried what you said with the playback mode. Out of GDB it didn't give any more info when it crashed in --debug mode. Here is the backtrace, but when it crashed in GDB it didn't exit the programme, it just froze the Plyback Controls window.

Would you like me to email my log file to you? As it's too large to attach.

Thanks for your time.

Please run it again till it fails (under GDB). this time run the following commands:
print len
print lo_width
print lv_zoom
print total

Odds are one of those comes back as a zero and it causes the fault. Strange though that i don't get the same issue.

nevermind, i found the issue. i fixed the problem in CVS. it turned out the lv_zoom param got initialized to zero which causes a divide by zero (floating point exception). A temporary fix is to close megatunix and edit ~/.MegaTunix/config with a text editor, find the [Logviewer] section and change "zoom" to 1. I also suggest setting the scroll_delay to 100 as well (safe defaults).

List of bugs fixed and new features completed for .19

Text entry handling for temperatue sensitive controls would fail to accept typed in input. Status: Fixed
Logviewer crash. Status: Fixed
numerous small crashes fixed

New features:
- MS2 Table editor (new GTK+ custom plotter widget, full AA, drag and drop graph editing)
- TCP/IP Socket (partially complete) use to the point where you can manipulate values via telnet, or via a client script.
- MS2-Extra Tooth Trigger Monitor 2/3rd implemented. (Tooth, Trigger, but not yet composite. If someone can make sense of jsmcorinta's docs on the composite logger, and decipher them to "idiot engineer" level and then explain then to me, it would be much appreciated.
- All tabs that had radio buttons now use comboboxentries (dropdown boxes) which makes many of the tabs smaller and easier to follow.
- CLI and GUI firmware loading tools (msloader, mtxloader), works for ALL firmwares, whether MS1 variants or MS2 variants

Dave

I use a USB-RS-232 adaptor cable on my XP PC but megatunix v18 only seems to consider com ports up to 3. My com port is 5: com5. When I type com5 into the communications page nothing happens? What should I do?

PS: You are going to have to be patient with me. This is my first real MTx experience and I WANT it to work! Once I've got it working I'm going to be bugging you to get my "AFRerror" gauges working but for now I just want to get things working.
Kind regards
Philip

OK, I found a bug related to that, so you can't use the gui to get around it (it causes a crash in some cases) and tends to ignore the suggested serial port in 0.9.18.
So, close megatunix, open up C:\program files\megatunix\.megatunix\config and look for the "[Serial]" section.

It should look something like this:

Code: Select all

[Serial]
autodetect_port=TRUE
potential_ports=COM1,COM2,COM3,COM4
baudrate=9600
read_wait=40
port_name=COM1
Change the "potential_ports" line to be "COM1,COM2,COM3,COM4,COM5,COM6,COM7,COM8"
you can also change "port_name=COM1" to "port_name=COM5"
