MS2-Extra V3.1.*

Questions specific to Megatunix - alternate tuning software that runs on unix and windows.
Note that Megatunix is obsolete.

MS2-Extra V3.1.*

Post by retired »

David,

Should MegaTunix work on V3.1.* (specifically 3.1.1)

On a Windows machine....

It's not entirely clear in your release notes but I've tried a borrowed MS2 and got this message

Prompting user for ECU family to interrogate...
Command "c" (MS-II Clock), returned 2 bytes
Command "A" (MS-I Runtime Vars), returned 169 bytes
Command "Q" (ECU Revision), returned 20 bytes (MS2Extra Serial310 )
Command "S" (ECU Signature), returned 60 bytes (MS2/Extra release 3.1.1 20110304 20:55GMT (c)KC/JSM/JB MS2)
Firmware NOT DETECTED, Enable Interrogation debugging, retry interrogation,
close megatunix, and send ~/MTXlog.txt to the author for analysis with a note
describing which firmware you are attempting to talk to.

I stick with 3.0.3y and its fine with Megatunix so I tried temporaraily upgrading it to 3.1.1 and get exactly the same message.

MTXlog file attached (that's from mine which is a 100% working MS2)

Thanks,

Rod.

I admit I've been very lax with public releases lately. The DEVELOPMENT code does support 3.1.1 and the 3.1.1als (baldur/teknique) variant. The Windows side is still a bit flaky, due to architectural differences, and other items (and debugging under windows is a nightmare), but I can send you a development version if you are willing to submit bugreports/feedback on what works, what doesn't and what is incorrect compared to other tuning frontends (if you use them).

I'm perfectly happy to submit bugreports/feedback and comparisons to the other frontend, I would like to see yours work under windows and 3.1.1 if only to help someone out who uses 3.1.1 and in case I upgrade from 3.0.3y myself.

I prefer your front end (although it did take a while consructing a suitable set of guages) and the way it talks to the ECU rather than relying on an ini file.

You'll have to PM with how as I presume the file is too large to email.

Just a note that the only "current" release of MS2/Extra is 3.2.1

I'm actually working on 3.2.1 support. The changes aren't too major so supporting that only takes a little time and testing.
