Should not effect genuine FTDI parts, but some may not know.

Yes, sure sucks that people are stealing FTDI's designs.

I agree that it sucks that people are stealing their designs, but I doubt the end users had any clue. It is not right to break their electronics rather than going after the cloners.
Megasquirt is not for use on pollution controlled vehicles. Any advice I give is for off road use only.

Counterfeit components are well known in the industry, and they usually sneak into the supply chain so early that even the assembly houses are unaware. Killing the fake components isn't the way to go about it.

FTDI should better inquire China markets (or others know places) rather than break end user toys.
Stealing design is a shame too James. I'm agree with this. And all MS staff is directly concerned as we see more and more MS2 clones

This is particularly obnixious as it is being pushed via Windows Update.
It requires actual work to figure out what is really in a Windows update as it is.
The use of a security update system for what is essentially industrial sabotage is not good.

Apparently Microsoft removed the new driver from the updates.piledriver wrote:This is particularly obnixious as it is being pushed via Windows Update.
