Have trigger wheel dimensions, how to enter?

For discussion of Phil Tobin's Tuner Studio software (Only about the tuning software itself, not about how to tune or firmware features)

Have trigger wheel dimensions, how to enter?

Post by aw113sgte »

The manuals were not of much help as they seem to only cover situations when TDC is in the center of a tooth. What do I enter for this wheel and why?
NOTE: This is a CCW engine looking from this side.

Your TDC mark is 122.5* away from the center of the sensor nose when at TDC. Assuming CW rotation, the center of your #1 tooth is (10/2 + 17 =) 22* from your TDC mark. From TDC, you would rotate the wheel (122.5 - 22 =) 100.5* CCW to move the center of the #1 tooth to the center of the sensor nose.

Trigger Wheel Teeth = 12
Missing Teeth = 1
Tooth #1 Angle (BTDC) = 100.5*

Thanks, it worked out to 116.5 deg when I had the VR sensor "backwards" with rising edge. I then switched the polarity on the VRsensor and kept the rising edge and got 104.5 deg. Strange thing, while cranking with no spark plug in, the "wrong" wiring had less deviation on the timing mark...
