MS3 Logging of VE1 & VE2 - Same Values?

For discussion of Phil Tobin's Tuner Studio software (Only about the tuning software itself, not about how to tune or firmware features)

MS3 Logging of VE1 & VE2 - Same Values?

Post by suberimakuri »

So, I have two VE tables, that are multiplicative.
VE1 is SD.
VE2 is AN.

Below 100kpa, VE1 is all set to 100.
Above 100kpa, VE1 starts to rise (it's like a multiply/boost overlay map).

VE2 is a standard AN throttle map.

Looking in the logs it would seem that VE1 and VE2 are the same value at every point. And the value is actually the result of the two tables multiplied together.
ie: 3700rpm, 40% tps and 160kpa.
VE1 should be about 67.
VE2 should be about 160.
In the logs VE1&VE2 show as 107 (67*160).

I was expecting to see VE1 as VE1 and VE2 as VE2....
Then I guess in an ideal world there would be a VEsum or something... which is the final VE value.
Is this expected behaviour or have I missed something?

Thanks in advance.

Map was first drive, so there's a few gremlins, including oscillating egocorr.

I checked the manual and the explanation for the VE1,2 datalog fields isn't very clear.
VE table 1 + VE table 2 --> VE1
If used, VE table 3 + VE table 4 --> VE2
