Tuner Studio

Post by myk777 »

Is there a sub forum or thread started for discussion of this alpha release? I searched but haven't found anything. I had a go with it tonight on my MS-I chip and it looks great, waiting for my repacement MS-II chip to show up and I'll try it out with that.

I am just about to put out a beta release with many improvements.
Performance - CPU utilization is now lower than MegaTune
Many of the Fixed dialogs in MegaTune are now there.
Linux support!
lots of other stuff....

Look for it this weekend.

I still need to test against an MS1 base code. I have a few MS1 processors, including the 1 in my car, but they are all running extra.

That's great news, I'll look forward to it. I had it running on my MS-1 chip last night but it is also on the exta code. I'll be sure to give you feedback on my MS-II setup, should have the chip any day now.

Phil, Tuner Studio seems much less cranky about my Dell's crappy comm performance than Megatune.
There were a couple of dialog boxes that didn't work, like accel wizard, but now that I'm using EAE, I don't care.
I should have noted the other, but I stink....
I'll be looking for the Beta.

Thanks!!

I would expect the new release to be much less cranky still. It adapts to the timing for different connection speeds i.e. a direct serial cable to a blue tooth connection. If the Comm layer experiences trouble it automatically tunes the timings before it gives up. In the end it can log faster with a good old cable, but will take care of itself with a usb or bluetooth without going into config files.

Those dialogs are the ones I refer to as Fixed Dialogs and were/are missing. they are not defined in the ini files, so need to be specifically coded. The latest code has about half of them in there, but there are still a few missing.

Where can I buy it ? It does not matter if all of the bugs are worked out of it to me at this stage.
I have a MSII and I would like to buy or try the software.

I just put the new alpha out 5 minutes ago. This version supports Windows or Linux. I do have Mac drivers in, but have not tested them.

There is no buy version at this time. I am currently expecting to keep the base version free, there will only be a charge as I roll out the really cool bells and whistles :)

Hey Phil - just DL'ed the new Alpha and it won't go past 90% install. Just hangs repeatedly - for over 1 hour last try. It responds to clicking Cancel (button clicks), but does nothing with it and I have to end with Task Manger and reboot. No error messages. Ideas?

Win XP SP1, score on MLV is about 43000.

Hmm, not sure what could be up with the installer. Are you an admin on the machine? Does MLV go through the install fine on that machine?

For info, I was able to install ok on my winXP computer.

However, celcius do not appear to work - even though I chose that unit the temps show as incorrect values with (deg)F as the units.

I install it today and i love the fuel and timing tables i always like the logging software for selecting a entire row of cells to increase as it was alot faster than manually typing them in so i will be using this and reporting and glitches i see .

This is going to be REALLY nice once its finished up Phil. :yeah!:

Is there a way to set up burst logging for us bike guys who log with a palm and need to upload the log in burst mode?

James,
What firmware are you using?
Where was it not in °C?

The OutputChannel data should all be in C if you set it. On the gauge cluster the label and high low values will still be based on F even though the number should be C.
Switching the gauge limits& labels to C is on the todo list. If you select the default dash during project creation, it should be properly represented in C.

Yes and Yes. Tried both "just me" and "everyone" - same deal. Goes 90% in a split second and hangs. On one attempt I noticed 2 msiexec.exe instances simultaneously (?). What services does it call so I can check they are all running?

There shouldn't be 2 running. It doesn't call anything. It is a pretty simple installation, it "SHOULD" just copy the files to the installation dir and put icons on your start menu. You really don't need to use the installer. It is just to make it simpler.
Is there any chance another installer is hanging in the background? If it isn't working on your machine, I'm sure there are others.. :(

But if you just want to skip ahead and check out the app you can use the tar file instead.

Phil,

As far as the .ini's go, can we just put the latest MS-II v2.8 .ini (iirc it's for 2.886 code) in the config-->ecuDef folder, then start a new project, it seemed to work last time I tried on the older alpha and it did autodetect properly, but just wanted to verify if this was the "normal" procedure. thanks

I downloaded the newest aplha. On the previous alpha, my fuel and timing tables came in "properly," but I could not view them graphically. On the newest alpha the tables appear to be "jibberish" for lack of a better description. This is with Ms 2 Extra 2.0 Release. I have not tried it with another firmware version.

If you put the ini file there, it will show in the drop down, but you don't need to put it there. You can check the "Other" box and browse to where ever you ini file is.

wes kiser, is this loading an msq or connecting to a controller? Which ini are you running on?

Connecting to a controller. It recognized MS2 Extra 2.0.0 Release, so I accepted it. I can try with the .ini that I am using with megatune. I really didn't have much time to play with it.

I installed the latest alpha yesterday. didn't have much time to play with it yet, but it looks pretty cool.

It gave me errors on the firmware version, i chose MS2E2.0.0 but i have 2.0.1 in it, then for the dashbord it said it did not match the firmware version i chose in the beginning... I didn't set up a dashboard yet, but I do have communication with MS, but i find it slower than MT.
