0.97 Released

Post by LT401Vette »

I just got 0.97 out there. It is available by either download from:
http://www.efianalytics.com/TunerStudio/
or by Auto Update, you can force an auto update from the Help Menu, "Check For updates Now"

Unless there is a need for a patch, this may be the last alpha. The next release should be beta ready. I really want to thank all the alpha testers, you really have helped to make this work better for everyone.

What's New, naturally there is a lot of random changes and fixes, but a couple of the more pronounced changes are:
1) The comm layer should no longer do any port scans. This caused long startup delays on a small percentage of machines.
2) added the indicators to the dashboards missing them, you will have to reload the dash into your project to get them.
3) A new Gauge renderer, "Histogram". This is not on any of the pre-built Dashboards yet, but you may find a good place for it.
4) The Accel wizard is available and hopefully you find it much better for tuning AE. Feedback welcome always! Here is a quick view of it:

I have a couple questions.

First, I keep getting this message in a popup during the application start:
"Failed to subscriber DashComp at OutputChannel Sync ErrOC"

This has been happening for several alpha versions. I have been ignoring it and just clicking the "OK" button on the popup. Is this something with my config or a known nuisance error?

Second, Will table import for the VE tables make it into a pre-beta version? I'm still stuck using Megatune to import tables because of the Megalogviewer issue with dual 16x16 tables in blended SD/AN mode corrupting the .msq file on save.

Keep up the great work on this. I have started showing Tuner Studio to some people in my area that are using MS and they have all loved it.

First, I keep getting this message in a popup during the application start:
"Failed to subscriber DashComp at OutputChannel Sync ErrOC"
That would be caused by an Indicator on your dash board that is assigned to an invalid Output Channel. It would be the "Sync Err" Indicator. The dashboard is part of your project, so even if I take the invalid Indicator out of the dash that in packaged with the installation, it won't fix the one in your project. There are 2 way to fix this:
1) Right Click on the Gauge Cluster.
- go into Designer Mode
- Right Click on the "Sync Err" Indicator
- Click "Remove from Dash"
or
2) Right Click and on the Popup menu:
File --> "Load Dashboard"
select a dash from there. Even if it is the same dash you are using, it will replace your current with the updated one.
Second, Will table import for the VE tables
Thanks for the reminder.. I have the VE Import about half done, got distracted and forgot about it. I think it is a subconscious thing because I dislike that format so much :) I'll TRY to remember it for the next release. Besides soon enough we will have some good live analysis in TunerStudio..

I found out that the Acceleration enrichment is inverted to what is inside the Megatune.
When I select 100% tps, it's actually activating map base acceleration. Counter checking
with Megatune reveal that it's inverted.

Yep, your right... with MSII it is disabling the wrong one :P.
It is just the enable disable that is wrong, no danger. I'll get a fix out.

I just put out 0.971 with 2 changes.
Fixed the backward MSII Accel Enrich curve enable disable.
Invalid Dashboard components will have a circle and cross over them so you can quickly see which one needs the OutputChannel corrected.

Thanks for the info and the change in the code for the invalid dashboard component. :D

Unfortunately I already fixed my dash so I won't get to see the new feature in action. :(

The temperature value is only good for degrees Fahrenheit. If I change it to Celsius, the indicators got screwed up with invalid temperature values. (TS 0974).

Ok, I see what Screwed up means :)

From the title bar, I can see you are on a MSII Extra build from May. There was an error in the ini file for MSII Extra up until about that time. Check this snippet from the OutputChannel section:

Code: Select all

#if CELSIUS
   mat              = scalar, S16,   20, "°C",  0.05555, -320.0
   coolant          = scalar, S16,   22, "°C",  0.05555, -320.0
#else
   mat              = scalar, S16,   20, "°F",  0.100, 0.0
   coolant          = scalar, S16,   22, "°F",  0.100, 0.0
#endif

Notice that -320 for the transform. That should be -32.0 for the normal conversion formula C=F*5/9 -32. This error is repeated throughout the ini, but it is fixed in more recent releases. It looks like your version still has this problem. We could fix the ini by replacing all the -320.00's but it would probably be better to upgrade to the more recent firmware.

Check your ini see what you find.

I was just checking the most recent ini's and still see it that way. I'll do some more digging and try it out on the bench tonight. Perhaps there is some obscure reason for the -320 and it is made up for somewhere else.

I see that the -320 in the ini may be the reason. However, the readings in Megatune is right. Therefore, I don't know if that can upset anything in Megatune if I ammend it.

By the way, I'm using the latest MS2 extra code 202a.

It is all scaled by .1, it is just too early in the morning. I'll take a look at it on the bench. I think I have a theory on what is happening here, but need to check the code.

Hi!

Today i tried the new release too. At first it finds the MS ECU but no INI File. Then it wanted to check on your Homepage and the next dialog was "Server unavailable". At last i´ve inserted the file from my actual megatune and now Temperatures are not correct - something about 250 degrees. It makes no matter if MAt or CLT - its always the same. My MS works with latest MS2Extra Release. The other functions seems to work.

Kind regards Gerald

Ok, found the temp on MSII problem. New release is out, 0.975 should have it fixed.

The "Server Not Available" error is because the web service isn't there yet. But you did point me to a problem, that ini should be in the build, it was just pulling the title bar first and taking that as a signature in the detect. That should be fixed in 0.975 too.

THANKS for reporting the problems!

Thanks Phil.
The degrees Centigrade problem had been settled.

I have a new problem though. The indicator that I modified is not staying put when I reopen TS.
I had the dashboard saved before closing it. I mod the EGO to show AFR instead but it reverted to
EGO meter whenever I reopen it. It seems that my saved Dash is actually not saved.

Any chance you are set to Narrowband in the settings?
Menu:
File --> Project --> Properties
on the settings tab.
On load of the dashboard I switch afr gauges to ego if it is set to Narrowband.
