Agreed, :) depending on what you are doing... What I have found to help is not necessarily making the gauges square, but making the same shape as the dash. That way it changes aspect ratios at the same rate as the dash and everythig always lands in the same relative position. So I'm going to have gauges that care about this (the round ones) force themselves to the aspect ratio of the dash on resizing in designer mode.

There will still be challenges if you try a background image as part of the gauges :)

Hi

Been tinkering with the positioning, if nothing else it gives me a clue as to the work you have popped into this

I small headscratchy Q

Advance, Whilst my V8 has a fair amount of advance, your dispaly is showing LOADS more than it is, at tickover (18) shows 70 at chat (38) showing around 100 :?

Any ideas, can't see how it is picking the feed / wrong / to change ?

nothing on my spark map is that high, i think there is some sort of offset built in or something... i also might have taken the regular spark angle gauge and renamed it to advance.. not totally accurate.
i think my map in that area is around 30 or 40.

i got a little idea that might make it easy to open up a lot of options without getting bogged down in dialogs..
be able to hit 'properties' on a gauge/indicator and it pops just that item's info up in a notepad style window. This way you can just text-edit those things that there aren't other menus for yet (or do some copy-paste action). then you hit the ok button and it either copies in and works ok or crashes out :p

Phil, I took another look at this and realized that it's because you have your gauge labeled advance as well.. it's reading the actual spark angle though, not just the advance. The fixed trigger angle isn't being subtracted. mine is set to 65, which more than doubles what the actual advance reading should be.

Are you looking at the MS1-Extra Analog Bar dash?

I see the timing gauge is assigned to advance instead of advSpark.... I'll fix that. Is that the dash you were starting from?

There are a bunch of dashes.
Analog Dash
LED Dash
Analog bar Dash
Default Dash

Then there is a specific version of each of these for the major Firmwares
MS1 B&G
MS1-Extra
MS2 Base code
MS2 Extra.

I meant the predefined gauges (under predefined 2). Those don't change w/ different dash layouts do they? I assumed not but I don't know what all is going on behind the scenes there.

But I did start w/ that last analog dash you came up with.

Nope, those are defined in the ini for your firmware. They are just loaded from the ini. The MSnS-Extra 29 looks right though.

some nitpicks:

BASIC READOUT
-font color ignores warning values
-decimal place setting promptly ignored/lost
-border style different than indicator

INDICATOR
- can you add text location adjustment? on bulbs was hoping for left/right/above/below. on the regular style i wanted to center it up, perhaps with 2 lines of text for more of a square shape.
- after scrweing around with other guages for a while and then coming back to these, was unable to resize and bring up the right click menu on indicators.

that's it for now.. I'm adjusting this for a more simplistic approach, something easier to glance at.

Someone earlier mentioned the usability through touchscreens, big buttons, etc

Check out this http://www.mp3car.com/index.php/126-Mag ... tware.html

THAT... would be freakin sweet, given that the user could design and map his own buttons.
