Just bought an eee pc 901 for TS :)
The prices are good and i worry about taking my >£1200 laptop in the car, so i splashed out on an eee pc 901.
20GB solid state storage, the usual atom proc, 2gb ram and 1024x600 res led display.
Can't wait to get it and use it in the car
Any specific tips or pointers when working with this lower resolution?
I'm hoping the performance is ok to run properly!?!
It'll come with linux, which i am more than happy working with, but is TS more comfortable in a specific OS environment?
Cheers,
Kristian

As long as you have Java installed, then TS will work. I am running it on a Acer Aspire One and what I have seen is realy no matter what size or res. it auto configures for it. I have a linux program You may want to try on the eecpc, let me know if your interested.

Got TS and MLV up and running pretty painless.
It does scale to the res well, though the gauges look a bit sluggish on start-up
Can't get the USB adapter to work at the moment, so i can't comment on it running.
Time to do some research

My serial to usb is a prolific 2303 adapter.
dmesg was detecting something but not picking up the device, so I went hunting for a module.
I found one but it had an additional extension, after renaming it though, i could load it, and it was detected, dmesg shows it being assigned /dev/ttyUSB0 (from memory), so fingers crossed it will work now. I have to wait until tomorrow to try it in the car though
Cheers,
Kristian

Lovely stuff
Set up tuner studio for that port. data rate to 115000 or whatever it is, logging rate to max, and it worked fine first time
I used the default dash and it did seem to update ok, I think I'll customise it to make better use of the space though.
Now its time to see how quickly MLV runs with the logs.
Well done on such a brilliant piece of s/w!

Running MLV on my 12gb 901 EEE PC and it's spot on with a keyspan adaptor.
MLV is fast too - not far off what I used to get out of my c2d @ 1.6ghz. No where near my 4ghz quad though (although that's a bit impractical to have in the car!).
Very happy - looking for a way to mount it to the dash rather than just have it on the seat. Any ideas anyone (by the way - it's a Westfield so no windscreen or airvents - just a solid peice of carbon fibre ;-)
