Windows XP crash

Post by MadCowTuning »

Hello,

I installed TunerStudioMS on my laptop running Windows XP service pack3. My mehgasquirt is v3.57 runing MS2 Extra firmware.
I am starting a new project then detecting my firmware and everything is fine. The I see the gauges moving and then blue screen and windows restart.
Sometimes it happens after 10 seconds sometimes after3-4 minutes. Megasquirt is connected trough serial to usb adapter.
Can you give me some directions where to lock for the problem.

What sort of crash? An actual Blue Screen of Death?

Are you connecting to your device? Or is it crashing while you are doing the scan?

If it is during the scan, see if you can figure out what port you are really on and set it to that without doing a scan or detect.

no. everything is running fine the detection is ok. the gauges are working. but then suddenly it crashes. As I said it can crash after 30 sec or after 1-2 minutes just watching the dashboard and driving. I don't have this problem with MegaTune.
The blue screen is this one that restarts windows automaticly. Like this one http://worshipcity.files.wordpress.com/ ... reen-2.jpg

By the way. after the restart of the windows it gives me the "error sending dialog" where is written some error and addresses. I don't understand much but can give you this info.

Hmmm....

Are you using a USB serial cable? I would suspect the driver of that, but if it doesn't happen with MegaTune... I dunno :(

Do you have any other serial connection or cable to try?

Yes I suspected it too. Will try tomorrow on another laptop running xp and on another running vista. Also will try to use bluetooth to serial adapter. Unfortunately there is no serial port on this laptop.

It was probably form the driver because now its working fine with Bluetooth to com adapter.

That's good... It is still interesting that the driver will work for one app and not the other... One has to wonder if what is the small difference. But as long as it is working now :)
