Tunerstudio won't connect to port

I am having troubles connecting to MS in Tunerstudio (under Linux). It will fail to connect to /dev/tts/USB0 even though I have the correct permissions.
I am able to connect fine in Megatunix and I have tried Tunerstudio on someone else's laptop and it connected to the same USB adapter with no problems.
I have tried removing all TunerStudio related files and starting from scratch, only to get the same problem.
Currently I am using TunerStudio_v0.987.5.tar.gz

Any ideas what I could be doing wrong?

Check the TunerStudioLogFile.txt in the app install dir.

My first guess would be lock file errors. Not all linux serial apps use lock files, but TunerStudio currently does, so you need to be in what ever group allows access. In most debian distros like ubuntu that is uucp, but some others like Fedora have other lock file groups, I believe it is the group lock

Hi. Thanks for the response.
I had added myself to the uucp group and the permissions of /dev/tts/USB0 are correct.
Here is the latest entry in the log file. Nothing stands out to me as to why it's not connecting there.

On a similar note, also w/ USB adaptor on a laptop, if i load TS before the car is plugged in, then uncheck "offline", it constantly beeps and logs resets. If I restart the car w/ it connected then it logs perfectly after that.
I have 2 logs like this if you want to see them.
This problem seems new, back in fall before I put the car away for winter it didn't do this. I think that was 2 versions ago?

The latest version has new comm optimizations that have been causing more issues, especially on Vista. I am about to put a new release out in the next few days that should fix that. I think that will fix Dave's troubles.

I'm still not sure on john... There are no error's in the log. It just looks like it can not open the port.

I have it gong now. I think it was fixed by changing the permissions of the /var/lock/ directory.
