For discussion of Phil Tobin's Tuner Studio software (Only about the tuning software itself, not about how to tune or firmware features)

TS noob needs a bit of help.

Post by W113 »

Hi
Running MS1Extra and EDIS 029v. MT 2.25 p1. Car is a MB 280 SL -1968.

Have tweaked the 029 v firmware in that I use a kPa factor 4115 file instead of the standard kPa factor 4250.
Since car is normally aspirated I use a 1 bar abs mapsensor, hate to give away more than half of the MAPbits 8)

Works perfect in MT2.25 P1. Have reconfigured the MT gauge to read 0-115 kPa.

Since I want to go with the tunerstudio which seems real neat, I loaded the demo and installed .

Connects real quick and all is well, almost. Looks real neat!! Using a USB/com dongle, no probs.
Windows XP pro on an ACER Aspire 3630.
The engine map gauge, however sits on zero.
But the PW gauge gives the correct results, so no real problem. Tried various MAP gauges .
The one that does work is MAP ADC, which displays correctly . A bit tedious though!

Coud someone please point me in the right direction, would like the engine MAP gauge to display
0-115 kPa.

Thanks a lot!

Your MAP gauge doesn't work at all?
That is separate from the max value. You can change the max value of the gauge easily enough by right clicking, select designer mode.
Then you can right click on the gauge:
Properties --> "Gauge Limits & Values"

But first we need to have a working MAP gauge. I'm not sure why that would not be working?
Is it not working at all, or just reading wrong?

To select the 1 Bar MAP sensor, on the Menu:
Project --> Project Properties
Click the settings tab, there will be setting called "MAP Sensor"

Hi Phil
I get the MAP gauge to display MAP ADC count under list 2 in designer mode.
The MAP ADC gauge follows exactly , 0-5V equals 0-255 ADC

Going to MAP gauge under list under list 1 and displaying MAP kPa , gauge changes into expected style but the
poiner rests at zero, no matter what MAP value I apply to the MS under test on the bench.
I have selected the MPA 4115 sensor under properties and changing the scale values under "designer" works OK but
needle is pegged to a big fat ZERO.

However, if I go into properties and select MPA4250 map sensor, the MAP kPa displays 0-5 V as 0-250 kPa. :)
Guess that this means that there is a bit of software for the lookup table MPA 4115 missing ??
But then again, being a noob on software, I do not know that for a fact of course. :?

All other gauges display correctly and exactly the same values as MT 2.25p1.
(RPM, CLT, PW, PWM DC idle valve, MAT, AFR, Ignition advance)

Best regards

It looks like you hit it. There is a reference to kpafactor4115.inc if you are running a 1 Bar MAP sensor i.e. MPX4115
It is not included in the TunerStudio install. The funny thing is I don't see it in my MegaTune install either :(

If you can find that file, put it in the inc folder under your TunerStudio install folder and it should be good to go.

I'll see if I can find it here somewhere to and put it in the next release.

Hi again Phil.

Guess not too many people running 115 kPa MAP sensor, but I certainly do.
Hate to in effect dump the MSD and then some in the 8 bit ADresolution.
Have loaded the kPa4115 file into the inc file. This probably sets things right.

However, can not try it out until tomorrow.

I have the kPa 4115 file, and enclose it

Bets regards and thanks a lot for Tuner Studio. Getting the hang of it now,
will try it out over the weekend tuning a MS1 Extra and EDIS install on a 68 MB 280 SL.

Hi again.
Finally made it out to the test bench.
I just want to confirm that the adding of the kpafactor4115.inc file into the TS install "inc" folder
solved the issue.
Gauge is now showing 0-115 kPa when I select the MPA 4115 map sensor in properties
Then used the gauge config tools to make the 270 degree scale correspond to 0-115 kPa.
:D

So, I am now ready to do some road dyno tuning with Tuner Studio this weekend if
the weather stays nice and I get 4 new tyres. The old ones were real nice Michelins
but actually 31 years old! Kind of like running on bakelite

Thanks again Phil .
