TS forced update to 988.5

For discussion of Phil Tobin's Tuner Studio software (Only about the tuning software itself, not about how to tune or firmware features)

TS forced update to 988.5

Post by woh »

If this has been covered, please ignore
I tried to use an older copy of TS (maybe two versions ago). When I tried to open it it forced me to go to the TS web page for an update. I was trying to do a simple test so did not want to bother with an update. But no avail it insisted on an update. I found this annoying. Hopefully in the future there will be a choice to avoid an update and defer to later.

So, I updated from the web page and it loaded just fine.
Trouble is when I tried to open the application it still tried to update. Rebooting did not help.

I then decided to remove the application. There were two TS's. I removed the one without the nice Tuner Studio logo and then all was well.

Please do not force updates on future TS applications. A 2 minute test in the middle of some project can turn into an hour easily.

The version time outs will go away when it is out of beta and there is separation between free and pay versions.
