datalog capture options

Post by dave »

I could have sworn that a few releases ago, I could should the car off at a gas station or whatever, then when I restarted it the datalog would resume. It doesn't seem to be doing this anymore.. I would like it to do this again, or perhaps as an option that we can mess with. Perhaps even an auto-log that is limited to 10megs or so that just rolls along and you can manually save from it when you need to see something that happened or whatever, but otherwise it's automatically going whenever connected.

to explain why just hitting ctrl-l was such a pain, I was at an autocross today. I wanted to record each run.. but the runs were long enough apart that I just shut the car down, so before every run I had start the car, dig out the laptop, hope it doesn't have to think for 5 minutes about re-enabling the screen, start datalog, then re-secure it. After the first 3 I said screw it.. not that the remaining runs would have such a different log but what I was trying to do would have been less annoying if I didn't have to mess with the laptop so much.

There is a bug in 0.988.6 that prevents it from capturing when you start the data log while off line. This is fixed now and I will have a new release out this weekend with the fix.
