How will this work? I have a suggestion

For discussion of Phil Tobin's Tuner Studio software (Only about the tuning software itself, not about how to tune or firmware features)

How will this work? I have a suggestion

Post by UnaClocker »

I'm curious how TunerStudio is going to work when you have a MegaShift/other GPIO type device hooked up through CAN. If I'm plugged into the main MS unit, I imagine I can add some new gauges to my main gauge set.. But say I don't want to change my main gauge set.. How do you have it planned to work? I was thinking it'd be really cool to have multiple gauge sets setup in like tabs.. Kind of like the tabs in a web browser.. One tab would be one set of gauges (say my normal engine gauges) and another tab would be another set (say all my transmission relevant gauges).. Maybe set it up so the left and right arrow keys can switch gauge sets when the gauges are up full screen.. Maybe this is how you planned it already.. Maybe I'm not understanding something.. ;) heh..

Phil's ahead of you.. he already has the tabbed gauges for CANbus devices. He presented this at the East coast meet, if the videos are still around, take a look.

Something like this. This is very basic example but you can see the menu that has been added at the end and the 2 gauges at the bottom right.

No, more like how there is "Gauge Cluster" and "Diagnostics" to the right of that.. I was thinking "Engine Cluster" "Transmission Cluster" "Diagnostics".. I was thinking purely of gauge displays.. Not the settings changing tabs..

Yep and you can create other dashboards that have gauges from either controller. So say you have a trans controller as the secondary, you can put the MPH or current gear gauge on the main dash.
