Hello,
Found another bug today now that I downloaded TS. Last night I made a whole configuration file from scratch as I am currently working on a university project. The MegaSquirt currently was using MegaTune with code 2.89, everything working fine.
Well I download tuner studio on the computer used for the engine we are working on and opened my configuration file. TS warned there were differences in the configuration and pointed out where (of course this is fine), and I proceeded to burn my new configuration file I made with TS and that said it was "completed". Well after that, the MAP reading went to 0, I thought I should reboot the MS which I did, and when I did that and booted back up my MS was dead!! I opened up MegaTune and I couldn't communicate with my MS anymore.
In order to fix the problem i had to reflash the embeded code on the MS itself. I tried this again 3 times and always ended up with a dead MS. At one time I did this and when the MAP reading went to zero, I checked that other sensors read fine, the TPS input was working but not sure about others....
I don't know what could of caused this but this is definitely a bug. TS had the project set for the embedded 2.89 code just like I had in the MS. I don't know if it's because we used MegaTune to configure and then now switched to TS and the MS doesn't like it?
I was able to upload my TunerStudio configuration file I made the night before using MegaTune instead of TS and it flashed perfectly. Then I opened it up in TS and it was fine!!!???????

Re: TunerStudio Causes MegaSquirt To Brick
How did you create this tune? Did you do it offline (from blank) or did you start from an existing tune?
Tunerstudio correctly warns you if you try to start from blank as it usually ends up as a disaster.

Offline.... maybe that was the reason.... It stated it is not recommended, not that it will end up in a bricked MS.... It uploaded with megatune just fine though...

It may well upload just fine. Unfortunately though, the tune will be garbage.
Load the firmware.
Connect with Megatune or TunerStudio
Save
Then you can work on that saved tune offline as much as you want because it starts from the default data. There are many, many settings in the firmware that do need the default values (or close) to work correctly.

Re: TunerStudio Causes MegaSquirt To Brick
Ok got you.... Maybe in a future release there can be a clearer warning for the user in this type of scenario. Thank you for the clarification on this.
