Beta Test Version 0.999.5 - Comms testers

Postby LT401Vette » Thu Jul 01, 2010 11:50 pm

I have just posted a new beta version with some significant changes to the comms.
http://www.efianalytics.com/TunerStudio/beta/

This version is to be considered beta until the comms is tested on a broad set of computers. If you have a computer that has experienced crazy gauge readings in some of the earlier versions, I would appreciate testing this version.

I want to be sure it can maintain stability at 15 records / sec on even the most problematic computers, but hopefully better. On all my test machines it maintains stability at maximum and gives a good read rate performance boost over .3

The comms in this version will perform faster and should stop any comms stops on MS3.

So I do recommend MS3 users try this version.

Hi,

you can download the *.exe to any Windows-Machine and extract the *.jar from the install directory. I did this some versions ago and it worked flawlessly for linux.

Yeah, I did think about that, but I was short on time before going to work for the day. And now I won't be driving the van again till Tuesday..
The changes do sound nice though, I'm looking forward to them. :)

Thanks guys.
It is the same jar, it was just too late and I got lazy :p
I'll try to put one out there tonight.

Also, don't think the crazy comms ever happened on anything but windows. The has been tested on 6 computers that it works well.

But for MS3 especially I would like to get this proven.

There are several other new features in there like VE AnalyZe cell locking.

I get txmode0 errors from time to time, and in general, I'd like to confirm that your new routines work well with the Mac. And I'm using the onboard USB of the MS3.. :)

Once in awhile, I'll just be driving along, the dash goes dark (disconnected) wait 5 seconds, and then it says something like "there was a configuration mismatch" and 'txmode0' error in the bottom. Is this saved in the log? I've probably got months of it logged if you'd like me to send it.. Anyways, I click ok to the message, and it reconnects and I'm off and running again. It's just a small annoyance, pops up maybe once every other day, and I drive about 100 miles/day on average..

I've had similar problems on my netbook especially using the MS3 USB port. I'm out of town till Sunday (without my car) but as soon as I get back I'll download and start testing.

Is it just me, or does that install put TunerStudio in the wrong directory? On my machine it installed to:

C:\Program Files\EFIAnalytics
instead of
C:\Program Files\EFIAnalytics\TunerStudioMS

Had a good working MS3 .22 with 999.3

Upgraded to 999.5 and a fresh install of MS3 .25

I now get a serial comm10 error.

It's unusable at this point.

Conection - MS3 USB, I also have an I/o extender hooked up.

Netbook XP

I am going to back date a few things and see where I stand. I was using serial before so USB is now another variable.
I'll be trying a few things today and I'll post the results.

That's serial corruption for sure. Previous firmwares were not paying attention to it and you could have had weird unexplained things happening as a result.

Yeah it looks like it did. That is a new installer... Instead of the microsoft msi I put together an installer using inno setup.

History:
I see very few errors with earlier versions except the problematic 0.999.2

Results from my testing so far...
1.
MS3 running on stim at ~4800rpm
Windows XP
Built-in USB-serial on MS3
0.999.5
Running at max frame rate
After about 3 hours I got a "transmit txmode0"
Earlier I saw a few times when TS went grey for a fraction of a second.
Total time running so far: 3h 36m

2.
MS3 running on stim at ~4800rpm
Linux (Fedora core 10)
Prolific USB-serial
0.999.5
Running at max frame rate
After 3h25 I got a "transmit txmode0"
Earlier I saw a few times when TS went grey for a fraction of a second.
Total time running so far: 5h 55m

With an earlier TS version (0.999.3) a few weeks ago, I left them running overnight and didn't see any errors in around 8 hours.

I got a chance to test .999.5 today, works the same as ever for me, I managed to get a txmode0 error after an hour of driving.

OK,

Using my old reliable serial setup. Works good. No errors so far.
MS3 .25 TS 999.5 XP

Netbook XP with usb/serial adapter. Solid. No errors.
This is the same TS install and MS3 I had the issues with.

The serial errors I was getting are only with onboard MS3 USB.

I need to look into the driver I am using for the MS3.
