Turn off the Gauge demo at startup?

Postby backeliten » Mon Jul 19, 2010 2:06 am

Hello!

I'm wonder if it will be possibly to add a setting to make the Tunerstudio to NOT run Gauge demo at startup and when loading a project.

The reason is that is quite CPU consuming and when running in car you want everything to run smoothly, so even a few seconds delay could feel like a very long time in the car.
And must of us do not have the latest computer to run the tuningsoftware on, java itself is quite CPU consuming.
The other reason is that is quite annoying to look at these demo each time I change from a project to a another, I don't get the feeling of a serious tuning program when it does that.

I also wonder if a TS version has been outdated it will try to connect to server and reach the latest version and not be able to run the program, but if you are in the car for a tuning session it may be difficult to connect to internet, specially if you are in a garage far from the civilization.
Why could you add a timer which will count down a number of seconds before it starts the program? Then you will be able to make some fast adjustment in the car.

I share similar feelings - I'd rather I saw "loading" instead of the clocks winding round and round.

That is a simple enough request. For the next release I will put an option under the menu:
Options --> Performance

What speed processor do you have?
If you open the About Dialog (Menu: Hep-->About) what is your processor score?

The reason I ask is that I can use that processor score to set the default behavior so slower machines will just default to no float down.

I also wonder if a TS version has been outdated it will try to connect to server and reach the latest version and not be able to run the program

Those timeouts are gone now with the release candidates.

I tried it and the turn off feature in 0.999.6b works and I prefer it that way.

Does it load faster even on a faster more modern laptop?

Nah, the difference would be negligible.
