Awesome work Everlast.
I might give you a PM at some point if that's ok, I'd like to have a bash at my own, but trying to ape yours from pictures proved very troublesome, would like some tips and tricks!

That's in the custom.ini file. You need to make sure its in the project's folder in your My Documents folder. Beyond that, I dunno.

Thx for the dash everlast, working fine.
I added indicators for Output Ports PT6-IAC1 and PT7-IAC2. The output channels for these are port 4 and port 5.

Re: The official "Post your custom-from-scratch dash" thread
1. Every time I try to save a *.dash file it fails and I mean EVERY EVERY EVERY time... its totally broken
2. I spent Many many a hour designing my dashboard, because I use it on my 7" slide out DVD player stereo cause its easier to glance at, and tune tables on my laptop.
3. I have background in Art and design so I had a criteria for my Dashboard
a. Large Lambda Gauge for tuning
b. Basic readout MAP and RPM that are at a glance easy to locate and read
c. Matching indicators and gauges had to locate together
d. It ABSOLUTELY HAD to look cool
e. Moving background if possible
All of my criteria were met and what I came up with is simply amazing in my opinion, and I really like it. And heres my Histogram dash... there are TONS of overlayed tell tails within each category... And Yes... the flaming background is a moving *.gif image pulled from the web

Re: The official "Post your custom-from-scratch dash" thread
I am guessing you are saving it to the default dash folder:
[TunerStudioInstallDir]\Dash\
The trouble there is if you are on Win7 or Vista, you don't have write access to those dirs and it would fail unless you are running as administrator.
I better change that default save dir to a dir in your documents folder.

Re: The official "Post your custom-from-scratch dash" thread
so all I have to do is save to a different folder? I am running Win7 and I assume as an administrator, unless it has to be ran from the tool tips as an administrator in which case no

In Win7 and Vista, even if your user is an Administrator, the application doesn't get Administrator rights unless you set it to "Run As Administrator" in the exe properties, then it will pop up that UAC message every time you start it. This is a major step forward in widows security, but probably causes the majority of all compatibility problems with apps.

(To be fair though Phil, Windows programming best practices have encouraged writing to only Appdata and My Documents since 2001. Not judging, just saying. )

Re: The official "Post your custom-from-scratch dash" thread
Agreed, it should be. Judging what? TS does work in My Documents, or the home dir.(To be fair though Phil, Windows programming best practices have encouraged writing to only Appdata and My Documents since 2001. Not judging, just saying. )

Re: The official "Post your custom-from-scratch dash" thread
Perhaps my tongue in cheek humor wasn't shining through my typed words. Its the home directory writing that's a no-no, has been for a long time. Nothing should write to Program Files once the installer is complete. For non-user data, you're supposed to use the owner/appdata/appname folder.

Re: The official "Post your custom-from-scratch dash" thread
Yep, nothing is.... Win7 will see to that. Hence the original problem, the user was trying to save the file to the install dir under program files. I will give you that TS shouldn't default there That is something that needs to change.Nothing should write to Program Files once the installer is complete. For non-user data, you're supposed to use the owner/appdata/appname folder.

I can confirm that when you right click -> Load / Save -> Export /Save As it defaults to the Program Files directory. Maybe that's what the other user was seeing?

Has anyone tried making a Lexus LFA themed dash for TS? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6D7S2rcyIQ

Re: The official "Post your custom-from-scratch dash" thread
A couple minor changes to the default "analog bar" gauge and you've got that gauge. I really don't like how twitchy the tachometer needle is, looks like an early alpha version of the firmware for that dash, that needle would drive me insane twitching like that. All in all, that gauge is pretty unremarkable, we can do so much more than that gauge is doing.krhodes wrote:Has anyone tried making a Lexus LFA themed dash for TS? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6D7S2rcyIQ
Check out this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=krL6v1h6jog I think it blows away that LFA gauge..
