TS serial failure after 3 attempts

For discussion of Phil Tobin's Tuner Studio software (Only about the tuning software itself, not about how to tune or firmware features)

would a usb-bt dongle be any help
For the PC side? What are you using now? Built in BT?

It is worth a shot if you have then just, but I am just groping in the dark :)

Every time the BT works if I go offline change back to Com1 connect with the serial cable and go online with TS > Go offline > change from Com1 to Com10 BT port > Shutdown MS >Change over to the BT dongle > Turn on MS and it connects and stays online without errors .

But shutdown TS and reopen .... failure

is there any other setting here in the config that needs enabling ?

Flow Control should be disabled. I would expect the TS parameters to be setting that though.

I just read the post about "where did 1.14.1 go" ....
I've installed 1.004 and there is no longer the issue with failing to connect using BT like it was with 1.14.

It looks like TS is still not connecting 100% as it will eventually go offline and then reconnect again automatically, There is constant activity with the "blue wave across the screen" just under the Tabs, all the gauges are working :D

Try lowering the data rate to 10.

Enable the comms log debug on the communications menu and then the main TunerStudioLogFile.txt will show up all serial commands, timings and errors.

If you check the setting in the dialog:
Advanced --> CAN Parameters
My CAN ID

is that set to 0?

I noticed in your log that it is responding to the pure serial runtime command A, but I see no responses to any CAN formatted commands, like a page read.

Ok, lets try this for information...

We know it is returning runtime data using the non-CAN commands, lets see if turning on CAN_COMMANDS so it uses a CAN style command to read the runtime data works.

- Open Project Properties
- Click the "Settings" Tab
- Set CAN_COMMANDS to "Activated"
- Click Ok

Then do another Comm Debug log and we can see it is responding to the CAN based runtime data command.

Also just to be sure, it is still working fine all around with a usb serial cable?

It doesn't look like we are getting any runtime data and the txmode error is generated by the firmware when it gets data while it is not expecting it, like when it is sending it.

So, here is a thought... The 1 char command seems to get through, but the 7 byte commands are not getting through right. I don't see this setting in the dialog you have posted above, but usually BT Adapters have a setting to turn echo off. Is there an echo off setting somewhere under one of the other buttons?

I don't see any other setting that refer to the "echo off" ... switch's or button's in the dialog,
perhaps I should try another laptop with XP on it and see how ! This laptop has win7 it's been reasonably good so far maybe the BT is a little funky ??

Did you ever got it working?
Mine has always worked flawlessly with MS2E, but I cannot get it working with MS3 (same errors like yourself).

Give TS 1.17 a try. I made a number of comms changes specifically to help BT, including that error which seemed to come up with some adapters.
