Tuner Studio error - "firmware signature mismatch"....
Got this error code today when I opened up TunerStudio. I haven't gotten this before and I have been using TunerStudio for the past month to try and tune my car.
Firmware signature Mismatch!!!!
Your Controller is using firmware:
'MS2/Exü'
For TunerStudio to communicate correctly, the Serial Signature for your project must match what is reported by the controller.
Project Serial signature: 'MS2Extra Serial310 ' Controller Serial signature: 'MS2Extra Seria'
It is not recommended that you connect with the incorrect ecu defintition! To correct this, up date the ECU Definition in your project to match that on the Controller.
How would you like TunerStudio to handle this?
I click on "update ECU definition" and it says:
TunerStudio does not have an ECU definition (ini) file that is compatible with the firmware installed on this controller.
Firmware on controller: MS2/Exü
Required Serial Signature: MS2Extra Seria
To correct this please browse to the ECU definition (ini) file that was provided with your firmware
I click ok and it wants me to browse for the correct ini file, but I am not sure where to find that file.

Problem fixed I think. I restarted TS and that message didn't come back. SWEET!

It looks as though the read was interrupted during the signature read.

I have a similar problem with my connection.
Same OS, Same serial cable, same install procedure.
PC connects just fine.
Laptop gives me this screen shot of Gibberish!

That either isn't a MegaSquirt being detected or there is some type of corruption involved.

My pc sees the microsquirt perfectly on when on the bench, testing.LT401Vette wrote:That either isn't a MegaSquirt being detected or there is some type of corruption involved.
When I go to both my laptops running windows 7, and the other, xp, I get this.
3 different serial com cables show the same thing.

I would try it on the bench again. See if it still works fine there and if the laptops work while in the bench.

I re installed my win 7 OS.LT401Vette wrote:I would try it on the bench again. See if it still works fine there and if the laptops work while in the bench.
Installed Tuner Studio.
Bought a new serial cable (I have 6 + an old xp computer with a serial, not working) that is win 7 certified as well as win 8 certified.
The cable (Belkin) self installs and...
Tuner Studio read this signature with random characters.
When hooked up to my car battery, I get nothing.
When I hook up to a computer power supply of 12.12V, I get the random characters.
When hooked up to a NI-CD AA 700mah 9.6v charged to 10.10v, I get nothing.
Does the microsqiuirt need a super clean 13v signal to run properly. I hear my injectors click when key on.
Would a capacitor help Tuner Studio pick up the signal properly?

Re: Tuner Studio error - "firmware signature mismatch"....
If even hooked to the power supply you are getting nothing, there is likely some type of problem in the Microsquirt or the connection.
It seems the MicroSquirt is responding to the S and Q commands, so it must be getting the data, at least the single characters.
Of the 6 USB to serial cables you have are any of them FTDI based? That is the safest bet, but the others should work as well.
Have you tried connecting to it with Mini-Term and typing an S or a Q (must be uppercase)? I imagine you will get the same strange characters.
Same result with the old XP laptop?
You may just need to reload your firmware.

Did you fix this problem? My MS is working but I can't connect to it to make changes I get a similar message that you do.
