Kristof,

I might be wrong (not hooked my Microsquirts up in a while), but I thought the Port Check worked when you had a MS2, MicroSquirt or whatever hooked up & powered with 12V. The MS2 sends something back that TunerStudio recognises and this is part of the process. :?

Mike

PS Sometimes switching between the cu. & tty. drop downs prompted port recognition, but that was when things were buggy.

I'm still on 10.5.8 on my Macbook, I'm having the same problems as above but haven't tried the fix yet, the USB adapter shows up in my device list (FTDI brand chips) but I'm wondering if I'll need the new Java? It wont let me update it with the old OS I'm running.

Thanks!

If the USB device is in your list, then you're halfway there, and the driver extension has been loaded in the OS. You need to open TunerStudio and check your Communications>Settings, because if you use a different USB port on your MacBook, a new device name (equivalent to a COM port number) will be required to connect. You have to remember which one you were plugged into when you reconnect your cables, or update your device name in the settings each time. :)
If you need a new version of Java, when you try and open TunerStudio, the OS won't let you, and you should get an update screen (that's what happens in later versions with tighter security protocols), but I'm not sure 10.5 does this. If Java is in your System Preferences, you will be able to open this and check for updates.

With old leopard you often need to swap out the RXTX driver to a different one.
I have it out here and a TunerStudio build with the 10.5 driver in place to try.

I don't remember what version TS that is.

The easiest way to just use the driver is to use the Linux TunerStudio, unzip it somewhere and replace the librxtxSerial.jnilib in the same dir as TunerStudioMS.jar with the one at that link. To run it, double click the TunerStudioMS.jar file.
