MAF bug in latest release

MAF bug in latest release

Post by vw_chuck »

Guys,
I just updated my ECU with the latest release as of Aug 27 2014 and the MAF scale in tuner studio is around half the amount of what I select the range to be. It is half for just about every one of the ranges. Is this a bug or am I just doing something wrong?
Thanks,
Chuck

In TS 2.6.01, on the MAF Flow Curve page, click on the box in the top left corner of the chart, (with three periods in it) and set the low and high limits to both the x and y axis. Use the four preset levels to get you in the ballpark, then adjust on the chart based on your MAF's actual max flow rate and its corresponding voltage.

Yes I understand how to adjust the scale manually but in the MAF settings tab there is a drop down for different ranges of sensors. There is a 650g/s, 1300g/s etc.. When I select say 1300g/s and then go back to the MAF curve tab the 5 vdc value is NOT 1300g/s. When 1300 is selected I only read 522g/s at the 5 v mark. Something is not correct.

Please see the tooltip, you need to reload the MAF flow curve after changing the sensor range.

EDIT: Also, this is unrelated to TunerStudio. All of the settings and such are determined by the firmware "ini" file.

James. What do you mean by tool tip? The little note that says you need to reload the maf curve after changing that comes up? Obviously I tried that many times and it does not work. When you say "reload" what exactly do you mean by that? Close it and open it again? I tried all of this and it does not work.

Reload means that you have to load in a calibration curve.
Fille -> Load dialog settings on the MAF flow curve page.

Then pick one of the calibrations that are supplied in the tune_files directory within the firmware zip.

It's a little confusing because there are two menus.

You're referring to the "File" menu in the main TS window. But if you open the MAF flow curve dialog, it has its own "File" menu, with which you can load a new curve as James describes.

Guys,
I do not have this "Dialog that you are talking about"
I open the Maf flow curve under the basic/load setting tab
There is only a box with three dots on it that lets me scale the x and y axis and there is a question mark that says this is your flow curve.
Order of events that I did that lead up to this.
I loaded tuner studio on a new compter running windows 7
Opened tuner studio and it updated itself to the latest release
Then I opened my old tune from the previous firmware release
I also tried to point the software to the new .ini that comes with the most recent firmware but it keeps going back to main controller.ini that is located in the tune i have open.
What am I doing wrong?
I should be able to update my ecu firmware and tunerstudio then use my previous tune to make a new up to date tune, correct.

Guys I even made a brand new project and opened the MSQ that came with the latest firmware release and I still do not have this load flow curve box nor a File option on the flow curve page.

As stated above I do not have this using the latest release firmware for MS3 and the latest release of tuner studio. I also tried this on a windows 7 computer and a windows XP computer and neither have this option. Am I loading something wrong? This makes NO sense.

I've moved the topic back to the TunerStudio sub-forum. Maybe the guys there have some idea. I do not.

James,
Doesn't the .ini file dictate all this?
Thanks,

It sounds like you are running the Lite edition of TunerStudio.
The Load/Save dialog settings is only in the registered version of TunerStudio.

I did not know this.

How can Lite users load in the provided MAF flow curves?

I am not sure. This feature was added to the registered version before it was used for such a purpose. We will need to come up with an alternate means.

I magically have the file drop down appear. I seems to work much better now. The only thing that is weird is if I set it to say 650g/s range I can not go to 650 g/s range on the y axis I can only go to a max of 573g/s for some reason.
Thanks for the help everyone.
