Have a few general connectivity questions.
I’m not up to date on Bluetooth VS wireless etc. My laptop connects wirelessly to my home router. I’m assuming Bluetooth wireless connection is “different” and my laptop will not recognize a Bluetooth signal?
Here is my issue(s)…
1.) Currently using my laptop VIA usb cable to tune my MS3x. I just ordered a Bluetooth serial transmitter to send Bluetooth gauge signal to a touchscreen android smart pad. I’ll have this mounted on the dash. Will I be able to wirelessly send Bluetooth to my “pad” and tune on the lap top?
2.) To make things more complicated for myself I ordered a wireless Bluetooth GPS device. From what I’ve read this will have a USB dongle that I’m guessing will be installed on the laptop? Then I’ll have to assign a COM port to the GPS and Tuner studio will “see it”. Also guessing this means I’ll have to have the laptop on all the time if I want the GPS?
Or is there a way to setup the GPS itself to send a Bluetooth signal to the MS3x without my laptop?
3.) Lastly, can send the GPS Bluetooth signal AND my Smart pad signal at the same time? Or is this one or the other?
Using the suggested GPS box and blue tooth transmitter from tuner studios website.

Re: Blue tooth and serial connection + GPS?
I am not 100% sure but I don't think that will work. I think it is limited to communicating with only 1 device at a time. However I could be wrong.forcefed86 wrote:Have a few general connectivity questions.

The gps will only communicate to the tablet or PC. You will configure tuner studio or shadow dash to see it like you said. You should be able to use bluetooth vs the cable. I wish there was a way for the GPS to hook to the MS3X directlyforcefed86 wrote: 2.) To make things more complicated for myself I ordered a wireless Bluetooth GPS device. that is a good question. I don't know. I would see if you can find the user guide and see if you can pair it with multiple devices at the same time.forcefed86 wrote: Or is there a way to setup the GPS itself to send a Bluetooth signal to the MS3x without my laptop?

Moving this to the TunerStudio sub-forum as many questions are likely best asked there.

Re: Blue tooth and serial connection + GPS?
Only 1 app can talk to the MS at a time. So if SD is connected via BT, you don't want to connect TS over USB.
Configured like that you would need TS running to get the GPS data, however, you can connect SD to the GPS and capture the GPS data with your tablet in Shadow Dash.
That is generally what I am doing now, datalogging with my phone and letting it sync to dropbox. If I have the laptop with me, then I let it connect to both the MS and the GPS while leaving SD offline. You should disconnect the BT Adapter while connected to USB or you can get communications errors.

Re: Blue tooth and serial connection + GPS?
I'll be returning the GPS bluetooth unit and installing a wheel speed sensor for my MPH readings. This way I can use it for "boost by speed" and it will display MPH on the shadow dash on my tablet.
I believe this will solve all of my problems.
Thanks
