It's the two pin jumper marked "B/LD" on the MS3 daughter board. Shorting the two pins on it before powering up the MS3 puts it bootloader mode.

reloaded the firmware through the usb because it couldn't use the serial connection, it says warning no valid ports or ecus found and a list of reasons that i went through but could not manage to get anything different to happen.
after reloading the firmware through the usb connection i still cannot connect to tunerstudio it just says no connection

Please try running the Port Check program with the MS3 plugged in and powered up, and TunerStudio closed. Then post a screen shot of the results you get. This will give me more to go on.

have a screen shot of the port check here
also tried boot loader while reloading the firmware it got to the end and said step 1 turn off ms3 step 2 remove jumper step 3 turn on ms3 press enter to continue and the application quit after pressing enter

Looks like Port Check is picking it up just fine. Try making a new project and trying to detect the MS3 with it powered up. If it doesn't find the MS3, please upload a copy of the TunerStudioAppDebug.txt file.

ok new project did the trick and tunerstudio found the unit but i still only have a response on the gauges from 02 and tps, nothing from the other three could it be my stim?

Possibly. I'd check the voltage these Stim outputs are sending you.

so even though ive read the schmatic for the stim a hundred times im still sort of troubled, for instance to heck the output for the mat would i read the change in voltage between pin 20 and any one of the grounds?
