Phil - Need Some Help w/Narrow Band set up...

Post by ErnieJones »

Hi Phil;

My apologies for calling you out by name :oops: but I've been going through hell trying to get my new motorcycle install up and running on the Microsquirt Module on a narrow band sensor. It's rich all the time, by far. Way too rich and it runs like crap.

I've been doing some research on setting up Tuner Studio with a NB and there seems to be a lot of confusion about how to do this. Some posts say that when you set up TS with a narrow band sensor your AFR table will read in volts - this didn't happen for me it showed WB ratios. I flow tested the injector and entered all the correct information in those fields to calculate what should be a proper REQ Fuel (7.1) for a 125cc engine. The sensors have all been calibrated etc. No sync loss issues and the timing has been verified. It's running MAP based Sequential FI.

I must be missing something really basic with respect to setting up TS for a NB because I can't figure out why it's always stinking (literally) rich.

Under tools/calibrate AFR table it's set to narrow band.
EGO Control is set to narrow band.
EGO target is 14.7 - everything else is at default.
Under tools/general settings I had included AFR target. With this set the bike is still way rich and the only way to lean it out is to go into the AFR table and set every cell to 25 (!!) across the board. At that point it's much better but still rich (I think).

If I choose not to use the AFR target it's back to way too rich. It does not appear to be aiming for 14.7 at all.

I must be missing something. I was operating under the assumption that the ECU would aim for 14.7 under most circumstances (because that's all it really knows) but it's rich. All the time, and by a LOT. Any chance you can take a look at my .msq or provide a bit of help with respect to determining why it's always trying to go so rich on me?
Thanks you;
Ernie

If you are not even close to 14.7 narrow band ego control would struggle to reign it in. You must get your VE table sorted. http://www.msextra.com/forums/viewtopic ... 18#p418718
Find the Manuals up top under Quick links: Manuals. :RTFM:
