Wrong CLT readings (MS1)

Wrong CLT readings (MS1)

Post by PauliusNORCO »

Hello everyone,

I'm not very good in English, so i'll be short.
Few days ago i changed my CLT sensor, that was reading temperature spikes all the time and messing up PW (it was Audi siingle pole unit), with a two pole Bosch sensor from BMW. Measured temperature/resistence pairs for easytherm 5.0 ( -18degC - 15400 ohm; 21 degC - 2200 ohm; 96degC - 183 ohm; also i've got 1k ohm bias resistor ), followed the steps to write files, downloaded to MS, copied files to respective directories, but TunerStudio reads 26degC in a cold car with 2degC outside temperature. IAT reads correctly: 2degC.

Tried Megatune, it reads minus 16degC CLT and 2degC IAT.

Tried to start car and drive a bit for datalogs. Haven't got any CLT spikes, car now drives good, but CLT readings are way off.

So can someone tell my what could be wrong? Hope You understood me. :) BTW, i'm new to TunerStudio, was using Megatune before.

Have you run your S19 through Easy Therm with the new sensor and bias values?

Didn't quite understood, what You mean by running S19 through Easy Therm.
I've measured temperature/resistence pairs for my new sensor, written those values to Easy Therm 5.0 and followed the steps. Then copied .inc files to TunerStudio my project "inc" folder.

Along with copying the inc files over, you have to flash the altered S19 to the MS1 also.

Flashed it successfully. Tried several times with no changes to the readings in TS.
I guess it looks like i'm flashing my .s19 from my previous setup with old CLT sensor over and over.

Where are you putting the inc files generated by EasyTherm.

That would be the place....
I take it the readings are different with the inc files in that folder, than they are with out the inc files in that folder?

If i recall correctly, readings are the same with the .inc files in that directory or without them. Can't tell for sure at the moment, my car is at home and i'm studying in another city.

Is there a way to know, if my MS is giving wrong readings to TS, or TS reads wrong from MS?

That is where I am heading...

If you see the values change by putting the files in the project inc folder and reloading the project, then you know TS is using the new inc files.
It is easy enough to see what ADC value the MS is passing back, then look in the inc file and see the lookup value.
If the lookup value in the inc is not what you would expect, then I would go back to Easy Therm and make sure everything was input there properly.

Ok, looks like i sorted out problem with wrong readings. Seems like i changed my bias resistor, when was messing around with it, and forgotten that, because CLT ADC from MS matches what's written in thermfactor.inc. Rewrote .inc files with easytherm and everything looks good after 5 min. check.

But i have another question: how to change TS CLT gauge scale? It reads a maximum of 102degC. How to make it show more then that?
