WUE below 50% for propane

Post by Activate »

Hello,

I need to lower the WUE to below 50% for propane but I can not go lower.

With 50% I have a AFR from 10.2 too much.....

How must I change that to a lower value?

Thanks and greetings,

Erik.

I think you would be better off keeping the wue at 100 and lowering the required fuel to give you a good afr.

Thanks for the answer.

If the engine is at 80 degrees C the AFR is fine....so I need to lower the WUE.

Propane is different from normal gas if gas is cold you need more fuel, with Propane you need less.

Thanks and greetings,

Erik.

My LPG engine starts on petrol, at 40 C, he switches to LPG, I use 130 WAE at 40 C
At 70 C WAE is 100. So its off .I think I could use even less.

Normally I doe the same start on petrol an over at 38 to propane.

But the fuel pump is dead so I have to start on propane.

Dear Erik,

You don't state whether you are using MS2 or MS3.

If you are using MS3, then you get two chances at controlling fuelling with temperature because you can alter the %age pulsewidth with both propane pressure and temperature, assuming you have sensors installed for those.

kind regards

Hello Marek,

I have MS3, but no sensor for the propane pressure and temperature.

Thanks and greetings,

Erik.

I can place in the front of the Propane rail a pressure/temperature switch. (Bigas Rail)
Wich one should I use?

Do you use it Marek?

Thanks and greetings,

Erik.

Dear Erik,

From memory, I think mine is a Bosch 0261002456 with the recommended conditioning circuit built in the proto area.

I used calibration as follows:-

sensor1 (pressure-gauge type) linear 0v=11.9 5v=385.8 lag 15
I derived this by connecting up the MS map sensor in tandem with it and used a bicycle pump to work it out empirically, whilst watching both gauges in TS;
sensor2 (temperature) = same as MAT :- I am using Bosch coolant and air sensors.

My reducers are manifold referenced, hence gauge type.

kind regards
Marek
