Tunerstudio V2.6.14 Windows 8.1 Pro Tablet Problem

Post by dodd1980 »

Help please,

I bought a windows tablet so i can use Tunerstudio but i can't get it to connect to the ECU using bluetooth, i'm using a Socket bluetooth adapter which i can connect to using my windows 7 laptop fine. But when i add a bluetooth device on the tablet it finds it fine and pairs it ok but when you try to set it up in tunerstudio it doesn't find the bluetooth ECU and windows pops up wanting to add it again which then fails.

i'm not sure if this is a Tunerstudio issue or a windows issue.

Windows 8 will find my phone on bluetooth ok and add delete files from my phone so i guess the bluetooth module in the tablet works?

any suggestions ?

are you getting a Com Port for the BT Adapter when it pairs?
There is normally 2 set up, an incoming and an outgoing. You must use the outgoing.

Hmm,
Perhaps try using the S command from Mini-Term or TeraTerm.

Any chance there is any 3rd party bluetooth software installed? If you see anything like bluesoleil, that tends to break bluetooth.

Bluetooth Com ports should work on Windows 8, but there seems to be something wrong here.
It would seem like it might be your adapter, but if your Windows 7 computer can connect, then I dunno.

as an update i think i found the problem but no idea on the solution, if i delete the original bluetooth pairing and repair before starting tunerstudio then Tunerstudio connects and everything works fine. If i break the connection in anyway and try to reconnect it does not work until i delete the pairing again and start again.

So it's something to do with the pairing pin code being needed everytime, as when i do the same in Windows 7 it asks for the pin every time the connection is lost

It may be a bad BT Adapter then. You shouldn't need to reenter the PIN each time.

I am having the same issues. The Bluetooth adapter worked fine with my MacBook air until it died last week. New windows 8.1 laptop finds the adapter says it is working but then says it is not connected. No com port. Shadowdash on phone works perfectly. I have been running this for long time with my previous laptops.

Interesting though that power cycling doesn't effect Android.
It does seem like Windows has much more trouble dealing with Bluetooth than Andoid. But I am using BT Adapters with windows 8.1 here and don't have to repair after power cycle.

ah well that is interesting as i have used this with MSDroid on my phone and power cycling always requires the PIN code to be entered. Maybe my problem is caused by my Bluetooth adapter that i use??

Once paired, it will disconnect until some application such as TunerStudio tries to connect. Then the blue light will go solid.
