Java on Windows 8

Hello,
I've been using the registered version of tuner studio for almost a year. I'm now getting an error when I try to launch I get an error, says it's looking for version 1.7, but 1.8 is installed. I've re-installed etc. Does anyone know what version I need to install?

The Java update to 1.8 completely removes old java versions without cleaning up references to the old one in the registry, thus causes your trouble.
This is why the JRE is now bundled with TunerStudio and MegaLogViewer.
If you install the TunerStudio 2.6.12 and up, you do not need Java
Same with MegaLogViewer 4.0+
