Tuner Studio dead, trying to integrate Dropbox

For discussion of Phil Tobin's Tuner Studio software (Only about the tuning software itself, not about how to tune or firmware features)

Tuner Studio dead, trying to integrate Dropbox

Post by T3Bunny »

First my disclaimer. I have been having "other issues" with my primary tuning pc, a Toughbook. It got dropped hard enough to kick a Toughbook's @$$... And things were acting up once I fixed the hardware issues. Almost feels like a virus infested computer, but it "should" be clean as it isn't really used on internet.

So first off I was trying to dropbox my whole Tuner Studio Projects folder. My attempt ended up moving the whole folder though, removing it from its first location.

I then went to fire up TS, nothing. I fired as admin, nothing. I didn't even see normal activity in processes. Just got a spinning circle for 30 seconds or so.

Moved folder back, still nothing.

Simple solution would be reinstall TS and try again. I need to do this but was thinking I had been running a Beta release.... Whatever release I had been running, had updated itself several times. Whatever the case, I can't loose anything in my projects folder ESPECIALLY not my gauge setup information. Done a good bit of custom work there and hence needed to transfer data to other computer.

So first, best approach to fixing TS?

Second, how do I dropbox the projects folder? I am thinking it would be obvious with TS open, if I could get it to open... Can I just change the path to the projects folder?

Okay so java broke somehow. Tried to update Java and it wouldn't open, so went to website and grabbed update. Update uninstalled old versions. All fixed now. Or at least Tuner Studio opens. Not getting a clear idea how to redirect my projects folder to dropbox it though...

Yes, you can just open a project on dropbox by browsing to it and opening it. TS will then remember that folder as your TunerStudioProjects folder for the future.

Thank you Phil that has me sorted! I was thinking that moving the folder had broken it... Not sure why Java broke but whatever the case we are all sorted out now!!!

Oracle broke Java in recent releases. It was part of a security cleanup.
This is why Java is now bundled with TS and MLV and no longer needs to be installed if you are running a current version.
