Cannot detect MS3 Pro

Post by NolanMenne »

Hey guys, Phil, Brian.... I recently had to reinstall windows and Tuner Studio on my laptop and now it will not detect the MS3. I also use Shadow Dash and it will not connect to that either.I know the MS3 works and gets power because the car starts and runs. The error messages are here
error 1.JPG
error 2.JPG
.... The car has not been run in some time due to work being done, but when I was disassembling the car the ignition was left on and the battery was drained. While that was going on over night the MS3 went crazy and turned on the fuel pump ,fan and opened injectors which filled the engine with fuel. All of that is taken care of and the motor starts and runs fine but I cannot connect to the MS3 to make changes or connect to SD to see the gauges. (I used SD as the instrument cluster). I can see from the error messages it seems like a com port or something, but I do not know what to do or how to do it. So please can someone help me with some detailed instructions

Thanks,
Nolan

What happens if you use the port check program?

If you are referring to the port test button, it fails.

No - see the troubleshooting communications in section 8 of the MS3-Pro manual.

The new manual says that if the F1 fuse is blown it will not communicate. I have a blown F1 fuse, so now just have to wait until they get here. I did check the 5 volt ref wire against ground and all other pins, there is no short so I can only assume that the battery dying caused this.

If it is a new laptop, it likely needs the FTDI VCP drivers installed.

From Shadow Dash, check that the little grey switch is set to away from the DB9.
