Hello
I have a B20 Volvo previously running fuel alone with MS2 and tuned the car with Megatune. I have a 3.57 units with a remote relay setup. I am now trying to update my firmware to MS2Extra and run spark. I run Windows 7.
My computer had crashed last year and I went through a recovery process. My files have directory problems I think, the new project interface box links to my "recovered files". I think that this prevents me from starting a new project with updated firmware. I have my old project but TunerStudio saves to" recovered files" automatically, so the msq files cannot be properly saved. Also related I think......I cannot name a new project, letters will not populate the project name box when typing. I try to browse in the new project popup to current files but no success.
I believe the firmware has been properly loaded on my MSII unit. But when I use the new project "detect" feature it brings up three controllers. . The detect lists indicate the 3 controllers detected have the MS2Extra 3.4 firmware onboard. One controller detected has a serial number.
Do I need to eliminate the two controllers without serial number.
How do I get TunerStudio to not refer to the recovered files, and refer to the files on my C:program filesX86/EFI/.
When I go through the process of updating the ini files for TunerStudio to match my firmware, they cannot be saved properly, the directory to save the files seems to be trying to save the file to the recovered file section of my computer, and does not save properly because of no access.

When you create a project, under Project Directory, you can browse to any where on your computer. That is where TS will create the project, then use the parent dir as it's TunerStudioProjects dir.
It is only seeing 1 MegaSquirt, but 3 ways to talk to it. The best selection is usually D2XX, the 1st one.

Re: Project directory problems after firmware update
Phil, Thanks for the reply.
So I go outside, bring up TS, and start a new project. I browse and change the directory. When I try to type in a name for the new program the letters will not populate the project name box. Can you help me get past this problem please.

You are trying to create a project under the installation directory. Unless you run the app as an administrator, it will not have rights to create or modify anything there.
You should be working in a place where you have write permissions, like under your Documents folder. That is why TunerStudio create the TunerStudioProjects dir under documents.

I am so glad you understand what I am doing wrong. I am so close to getting this to work. it has been over 4 years, please have patience with me.
I understand what you are saying. I did not knowingly make changes to create the project outside of documents, so I do not know how to make TS work under the document folder. My knowledge is limited.
What steps can I take to change this so TS writes under documents again? Do I move files?
Thank you again,
Joel

If you click on that Browse button, then navigate to your My Document folder or Documents folder depending on version of Windows.
If it isn't readily apparent where that is, it can be found at:
c:\Users\[YourUserName]\Documents\
That again can vary with windows version..
Alternatively... If you close TunerStudio and delete the file:
c:\Users\[YourUserName]\tsUser.properties
Then run TunerStudio again, TS will go pack tot he defaults for everything and recreate the TunerStudioProjects dir.

Re: Project directory problems after firmware update
In the New Project Box I browsed my documents file where I noticed the TunerStudio folder. It was apparent to me then where I needed to browse to. I was then able to create a project name and noted that the browsing directory now led to a folder with the projects name.LT401Vette wrote:If you click on that Browse button, then navigate to your My Document folder or Documents folder depending on version of Windows.

Incidentally I was pleased that all my previous settings and tables on my MS2 controller were retained in my new project after loading new firmware. I did not have to re enter very much at all.
Going to try a start up tomorrow. Many thanks again.
