Tuner Studio on Win10 7" Tablet - Shadow Dash?

For discussion of Phil Tobin's Tuner Studio software (Only about the tuning software itself, not about how to tune or firmware features)

Tuner Studio on Win10 7" Tablet - Shadow Dash?

Post by suberimakuri »

So our printer came with a Win8 7" Toshiba tablet.
I've upgraded it to 10 which is mildy better.
I want to use it primarily as an incar dash, instead of my Samsung S5 phone.

With Tuner Studio, can I still get the GPS data from the tablet, or is that only available in Shadow Dash?
Is creating a custom dash layout for Tuner Studio the best option for using this tablet?

If GPS data not available, what if I put Android on it to get Shadow Dash?
I have an S5 and run linux laptops.

Thanks in advance.

Windows 10 is in no way better than 8, that I am aware of. It takes bloat to a new high and your available disk space has just decreased dramatically. Also there are the increased background processes hogging up CPU time.
Correctly identify your MS ecu here

Use only these manuals other manuals may cause brain damage or worse.

Well. Personally I prefer 10 over 8. 7 over both of them.
If II had experience with unity or the Linux tablet interfaces I would put Debian on it.

All it has to do is be a dash.
I'll have a play around this weekend.

As long as you have a GPS tht shows up as a COM Port, the GPS fields are there. Set up the GPS port under the Communications menu.

Thanks.
Unfortunately the GPS doesn't show up there.
All good otherwise. Looking forward to drags on Friday!

What version of TunerStudio?

From the main menu:
Communications --> GPS Configurations

This is only available in 2.5+ and only in the registered edition.

2.6.19.
Broadcom GNSS 4752 geolocation sensor.
It seems to be enabled in the right places in windows but doesn't work for Google maps either.

Some built in windows GPS don't have a COM port associated with them.
TS needs a Com Port to listen to.

There are several 3rd party apps that will take the internal GPS and create a Com Port to access it.

I haven't worked with them myself, but a quick google seems to show this a s common solution.
