Barosensor and input channel issues?

For discussion of Phil Tobin's Tuner Studio software (Only about the tuning software itself, not about how to tune or firmware features)

Barosensor and input channel issues?

Post by B1ack_Mi16 »

Hi.

New to the MS scene, it's been a while since I finished the MS3 Pro Module installation into the Bosch casing.

And yesterday I connected the loom and turned the ignition to activate it and hook it up to TunerStudio.

Was starting simply to try to get the Barosensor active, which a separate one..

I added the barosensor to the MS3 Pro Mod output called: "AIN1 - Spare Analog Input 1"

However in the list under baro sensor input channel selection I can only find these:
"Mainboard", "JS5 (ADC6)", "JS4 (ADC7)", EXT_MAP (ADC11), EGO2 (ADC12), "Spare ACD (ADC13)" and at last "CAN ADC01" to "CAN ADC24".

What has I got wrong here? Can't I use the Spare analog input 1 channel for baro sensor?

Thanks in advance.

Your TunerStudio is configured for MS3 instead of MS3-Pro.

Bummer.

Might that be related to firmware version etc.?

Tunerstudio more or less "forced" me to flash a new firmware yesterday before I could continue.
However it was this version, so MS3 Pro is mentioned.. http://www.msextra.com/downloads/dev/ms3/

How can I change Tunerstudio to MS3 Pro mode?

Open up Miniterminal in TunerStudio and type
S
Q

and cut/paste what you get back. That should show you the firmware version and the internal serial format.

Thanks, will try that.

Well after I was trying to connect the first time, nothing really happened, ECU didn't respond or something, can't remember the exact details.
At least it made me flash firmware and after that I could connect to the ECU successfully.

It sounds like you had no firmware installed, so Detect told you that you needed to install firmware..
How can I change Tunerstudio to MS3 Pro mode?
When you installed your firmware, did you tell the installer that it is an MS3 or and MS3-Pro?

If you did select ms3-Pro, TS should be getting a signature mis-match when you connect and updating the ini file.

If you need the ini, it is in the zip file you downloaded with the firmware. There are 2 ini's a ms3.ini and ms3pro.ini, you should be using the ms3pro.ini

That's got the MS3-Pro version of the firmware loaded. Sounds like your TunerStudio is configured for MS3.

Doesn't TunerStudio complain when you go online? It should do... let it "Update ECU definition."

For some reason, after rebooting the computer and starting Tunerstudio again the proper input names now seem to be availiable.
So all good now apparently.
