TunerStudio 3 Beta is up.

Post by LT401Vette »

The current version is 2.9.xxx, it will be turned to 3.0 upon promotion to stable.

A high level of new features:
- Integrated Firmware Loader
- Direct Bluetooth Connectivity
- Dashboard Enhancements
- New Default Dashboard Skin
- Unlimited size Difference Reports
- Designer Mode Improvements
- Scaling for high DPI Screens
- Support 128 Byte MS3 SD Logs
- Curve Graph Editing Tools
- New 1d Array Editor
- Multi-select Curve Graph
- Add Custom Channel Wizard
- Custom Channel Editor
- Simplified Comm Settings

With TunerStudio MS Ultra, these are added:
- Trim Table Auto Tune*
- Integrated LogViewer*
- Tuning and Dyno Views*
- X-Y Plotting on Curve Graphs*

Documentation on each of these bullet points is being put together, where available the above is a hyperlink.

A TunerStudio MS Ultra trial registration is free to registered users during beta testing. Once you install it, there will be a link to get it in the top right corner of the start up screen.
But first, check out all the new stuff in the standard TunerStudio MS.

You can download the beta at:
http://www.efianalytics.com/TunerStudio/beta/

For Linux users, please upgrade your JRE to 1.7 before installing the beta.
I will need to get a warning in there for this.

The Tuning and Dyno Views are very nice. Safes some time, if you want to open multiple things at once.

But i have a question.
Is it possible to make a "All-In-One" VE-Table?

Because in my case i use Table-Switch AND Table Blend. So i use all four VE-Tables.
Which makes it hard to use the dyno views. There it would be a great feature, when all four tables could be shown in a single table.
(Don't care about the values in the tables in the screenshot)

Or maybe in the dyno view, that you still use only a single table. But it switches/follows automaticly to the VE-Table which is currently used.

Awesome, downloading now!

Just a side note, "MAC" is Media Access Control. If you're talking about the computer/OS, it's just Mac.

speedy, interesting concept... Seems like something would be doable there. I'll think about how to glue the structures together.

Took me a minute to figure out what you were talking about there... That verbiage has been on the download site for 6 years :-)

I suppose you are coordinating the firmware loader efforts with James? The 1.5 MS3 code apparently requires the loader to jump through a few hoops to get the firmware installed correctly.

Yes, James did mention that. That handling is still under evaluation and not handled in TS yet.

I've been unable to load firmware into a MS2. I agree to all the terms and then get a blank screen with a small box in the middle.
Window 10 PC
Attempting to download firmware version ms2extra-pre3.4.2beta1
The ms2loader_win32.exe works fine.

Thanks, Huey

The release going out today has a number of Firmware loader tweaks.
Give it a try and see if that fixes it.
It should be out in about an hour.

The new build was up... But most of the changes where for the MS2 B&G loader, so if it still doesn't work let me know. I may need an TuenrStudioAppDebug.txt file.

Was able to play around with it a little today after getting it to run in Linux Mint, with a bit of help from Phil. Have to say the custom gauge wizard is awesome. Really makes it easy to create a custom gauge without having to mess with editing an .ini file.
Again, thanks for all the work on the new software.

Is anyone running the beta on a Mac?

Here's what I see when I try:

I'm running the latest Java version (V8U77) and OS 10.11.4 beta.

I don't like the huge icons on the Basic/Load settings etc. These need to be smaller.

Also, don't just slap an icon that doesn't accurately represent the menu's function. For example, CAN Bus/Test modes could have the H/L lines, like seen on the scope. 3D maps could have a thumbnail of an actual 3D map. Idle/Startup could have an idle valve icon, etc.

Setting up CAN communication certainly made me want to take a hammer to a few things.

- On the new "photorealistic" gauges, the drop shadow looks like it's misaligned and/or has jaggy edges.

- I have an ECU on the bench with no wideband connected to it, Innovate calibration, so it sits at 7.50 and not moving at all. The needle on the gauge however, moves around to what seems to be 9.7-9.8 (the gauge has readings between 10 and 19). Unchecking "Peg needle at limits" fixes this issue, but I still want the needle stop at the lower reading.

- I have a CAN device attached to said ECU, pass-through mode. I have the ECU on ttyUSB0 (Linux here). Say I reboot and the USB converter is now at ttyUSB1. I open the project, and obviously the ECU it not detected. I change this in comm settings, the ECU is detected, then the following loop happens: Online mode -> retrieving settings -> offline mode -> small delay (2-3 seconds) -> Online mode (repeat forever). At this point, simply closing the project and opening it again works. This also happened in 2.6.x.

Dyno view:

- There's a default label that has a yellow background with white letters. It was TPS, it reached a "warning" threshold (90%) and turned the background to yellow. So don't allow color combinations that have poor contrast (ie when the background is yellow, turn the text to black?)

- Units are in *F, regardless of my choice in the project settings

All views:
- Display the name of the table shown. If I right click on the table and enter Designer mode, the name of the table is shown as a button so that I can select which table I want, I would like to have a label showing the table name when not in Designer mode.

That stack looks like you do not have a 1.8 JRE. If you get 2.9.104a, it works with a 1.7.

To see what JRE is actually working at the command prompt, type:
java -version
