Jean will be the final judge, but I'd say that's fine.

What are you trying to do with the CANEGT. As I said a few posts ago, to read EGTs into MS3 you don't need TunerStudio to talk to it, the MS3 handles the data exchange directly.

As James says, it's fine to connect to the USB port with the MS3 also plugged to the PC and the CAN bus but you don't need to. The port scanner will tell you if there is a good connection between the pc, the CAN-EGT and the MS3.

The default CAN-EGT settings will allows you to use it directly in the MS3 without having to do anything in TunerStudio. But you do need to configure the MS3 correctly. Please post you MS3 msq.

I guess I would have to say that I would want to log My egt's through my ms3 as I go down the drag strip. I have a button for logging for the ms3x. it would be nice just to push one button for logging instead of turn on logging on the EGT also. when I get home I'll post the msq

Your CAN parameters are not set correctly. See the can-egt.pdf manual.

That's all you need to do.

There's an MSQ in the tune_files included with the firmware that will set this all up for you.

I think I found the problem. I think I did not install the js6 to can H and js8 to can L jumper wires.

That will obviously prevent any CAN comms, but your settings are wrong too.

Did you change your CAN parameters to match the manual? The last MSQ posted had the wrong 'table' set in the CANADC section.

I did not change those because I let Scott Clark make those changes so I assumed they were okay

If you want to communicate with the CAN-EGT through the MS3, you need to disable the SERIAL project setting. The message you have there is exactly what you would get with the wrong setting.

Also, whenever you have an issue with communicating with a CAN bus device, run the port scanner to see if it is seen. If you see the CAN-EGT there but have communication issues in TunerStudio, the issue is always a setting. If you don't see it there, there is a hardware issue (you can still have settings issues but they are irrelevant until the hardware issue is solved).

Read what I said in my previous message and do what I said you need to do to clear the error message.

finally figured out what you were talking about jean. All of the can adc's were disabled except for number 3 EGT and the filtering numbers were all over the place 0,16,114, excetera excetera. Put all of them at a 100. matt krammer told me to put the main controller Id (my I'd) at 0
