Oil Pressure Gauge Scaling

For discussion of Phil Tobin's Tuner Studio software (Only about the tuning software itself, not about how to tune or firmware features)

Oil Pressure Gauge Scaling

Post by staige3r »

As a new user to Tuner Studio I have stumbled into an issue I cant seam to solve. Perhaps someone would be kind enough to point me in the right direction.

We have created an Auxiliary Dash view for the purpose of confirming the functionality of all the gauges and inputs. This includes both Fuel Pressure and Oil Pressure (same type of sender). Fuel pressure displays nicely as there are several templates to choose from under Sensor Inputs 2 (after right clicking the virtual gauge face). However, I can't seam to find the same type of templates for the Oil Pressure gauge.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

MS3-PRO v1.4.0
Tuner Studio V2.16.14
Oil Pressure sender connected to Analog 1
Generic Sender 1 = Analog 1
Oil Pressure = Sender 1, no oil pressure alarm output defined

Dash currently using Generic Input = Analog
Dash displays generic gauge with -3000 psi to +3000 psi

Did you set up the Oil Pressure sensor under:
Advanced Engine --> Generic Sensor Input

LT401VETTE, yes I did - Generic Analog 1 = Sensor 1 with 0v & 5v settings. Its the same as the Fuel Pressure sender that is working on Analog 2.

Under the gauge right click menu:
Generic Sensor Inputs -->
You don't find an entry?

It should show up as:
[What ever title you gave it] - sensor02Gauge

Can you post an msq?

Sorry for the slow response - I had a little trouble with a slip and fall and some broken bones and not enough to drink. Anyhow, I attached the files as of the current progress. Any thoughts will be very appreciated.

It looks right in your msq.

I loaded your msq.
Your not seeing the attached menu?

Phil -I see it. The issue is that I am getting a generic pressure gauge display on the dash (-3,000 psi to 3,000 psi) verses 0 to 100 psi as is configured in the Generic Sensor setup for sensor 1. The fuel pressure gauge which uses the same settings (sensor 2) works perfectly and displays 0 to 100 psi.

When I set up the fuel pressure gauge, options appear under gauge|sensor 2 for Fuel Pressure, but no option appears under gauge|sensor 1 for oil pressure.

The way the ini is set up for Generic Sensors, the Gauge min and Max is always -3000 to 3000

Whether you select either the Fuel Pressure or Oil Pressure from the right click menu above, the gauge will have -3000 to 3000.

However, there is are specific Fuel Pressure Gauge selections under:
Sensor Inputs2
That have more reasonable limits.

There does not appear to be an Oil Pressure gauge set up...

However, you can change the limits of the gauge easy enough.

- Right Click on the dashboard, select Designer mode.
- Right Click on the Gauge in question, select:
Properties --> Gauge Limits & Values
- Set the desired limits

Also if you get the Beta TunerStudio with Ultra, you can use the Custom Channel Editor to add a new Gauge Template that will show up on the right click menu.
