Idle Ve Setrtings

Post by dll67 »

In tunerstudio under startup/idle ve settings there is a sedtting called "and load is above:(%) and its description is "Only activate above this load. (Helps code ignore over-run situations)"
What load are they referring to??? ignload? Some other calculation?

Whatever you are using for Y axis on your fuel map. In speed density that would be MAP in kpa.
Find the Manuals up top under Quick links: Manuals. :RTFM:

Alpha N .. So that would be a % of TPS? Is it that simple?

Looking at it closer it cant be tps. The way its worded only works for kpa. What do i use to get idle VE to work with alpha N?
I disabled multiply map and it stopped working

Idle VE wont work with Alpha N

Post by dll67 »

idle VE wont activate no matter what I put in that box. All the other parameters are set properly. All I changes was turning off multiply map in the basic settings.

you might want to post your msq, that way we can see if we find a setting that you might be overlooking.

This and other problems have arisen after taking 8 months off tuning to fix a broken motor. After which I updated software and firmware in the main controller.
Did I miss some incremental updates in between some how?

Idle VE Settings.jpg
That doesnt seem right for use with Alpha-N. The descriptor talks about the code trying to identify overrun situations so idle ve doesnt try to activate.
Whats the TPS point above which overrun is active? Wouldnt overrun activate below a TPS percentage?

I guess it wouldnt really be important except idle ve wont activate and thats the only parameter that I cant seem to meet to activate idle ve

what load does your engine idle at, I see the fuel table load is set from .2, .3, .4, .5, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, etc...for your load setting. if your vehicle idles at .5, then your activate above load point should be .2 or .3 to make it so that the idle load value is met. my idle ve table is turned on above a load of 44 kpa, my engine idles at a load of 55 kpa, that way in decel ( 20 kpa) the engine doesn't try to use idle ve. I am not sure what load setting is being used, but if idle ve uses the same load as the ve table then you need to lower your above load setting from 70 down to .2 or .3... and rebin your idle ve load to match a real reading you get with the engine idling. when you are connected and using tuner studio if you open the idle ve table do you get a reading showing which bin the engine is using while idling? If you are only sitting in the load 0 bin then you might try changing the load bins to match the load values where the engine idles at in the fuel table ve1. what ever those bins are, can be used to determine what the load range you need for your idle ve table.
good luck

What "70" number are you refering to? You mean 105 in "and load is above (%)"

The car idles on the IAC valve with the throttle closed and I am running Alpha-n with multiply map and include AFR.
Is MAP still involved in triggering Idle VE? If so the car idles in the 75-80 kpa MAP range with the TPS is usually around 0 to.1%
I dont recall if the table in Idle VE shows activity (follow mode). It used to when I had it working on Alpha-N before.
