TS 3.0.5 Dash only weirdness

Post by TheSilverBuick »

A few things. I'm running MS3/3x 1.5.x and TS 3.0.5 on Window's 7.

It seems the MPG/HP/Odometer, etc gauges don't work when going to dash only mode, and when going into dash only mode it's corrupting the PWM output's (A-E) rpm values.

Going back to regular mode to access the economy/performance settings it switched my VSS setting to GPS. I set it back, it starts reading fine, I go to dash only mode and restart TS and it first gives me an "out of range" error warning for PWM outputs A through E, even though the "check for warnings" is unchecked, and the rpm's are set at ridiculous values, and the MPG/HP/Odometer don't work. Then repeat, go back to regular mode and the economy/performance setting is back to GPS and the PWM A-E outputs have bogus rpm numbers even though they are all turned off and I had earlier re-entered them in to a 500-6000 rpm range.

I am seeing the trouble with the Economy channels.
It seems to not be loading any of the supplemental ini stuff.

That I can fix easy enough...

I don't see a relation to the PWM outputs, and cannot reproduce that; so I'm a bit confused there.

I triple checked it this morning, by flopping between the dash only and regular modes a few times on my way to work (I pulled over!), and mine is definitely doing something screwy with those rpm bins.

To summarily ignore it would be possible if it didn't give me the warning message when it starts up. I don't get a warning message when starting up in the regular mode but I do in the dash only mode. No other check box changes.

**And though later than I had said, I just sent in $70 to upgrade to Ultra and HD. Not so much that I need it, but may as well send a few bucks your way. :)

Can you copy the error you are getting?

I get a bunch of warning related to the Performance and Economy fields not being there.
This error sounds different though.

I'll photograph it on the dash display this evening.

It's a fairly simple out of range warming for PWM outputs A,B,C,D,E and the rpm bins are populated with numbers like 62000 or so. I'll replicate it this evening to post up.

Said to heck with it and went out to the car. I simply checked the "Dash Only" mode, closed down TS and then started it right back up. I corrected those bogus pwm rpm's three times yesterday. Saved the tune, etc.

It also looks like the odometer still isn't happy with Windows 7 hibernation, then yesterday driving home at some point became a negative number.

Did your warnings go away with 3.0.09?

It's in the car, I haven't connected it to the internet yet to update. I will happily try on Friday.

Hello Phil,

Updated this morning to 3.0.10 and it did not give me any errors on the PWM output's. I corrected them all before switching the dash only mode. Also when switching back to regular mode the VSS setting was still there  I haven't test driven it yet, so not sure if the mpg, etc fields are working in dash only, but I'm expecting them too now. Also, was the odometer going wonky when the computer hibernates addressed? I didn't re-add the odometer to the dash.

New weirdness. 3.0.10

In Dash Only Mode the gauge needles get hidden behind transparent indicators. Go to regular mode and it behaves normally, aka the needle crosses over transparent indicators. So it appears to be a Dash Only Mode issue.

Reminded me of this thread.

On a positive note, the economy gauges worked as normal in dash only mode :)

The paint method shouldn't change in dash only mode. It can change depending on whether a gauge is overlapping or not, so if on the resize?
There haven't been any changes to dash painting for these patch releases.

I might need your dash to try it...

One similar error I am seeing on the regular packaged Analog Bar dash:

Dash only mode doesn't make a difference on it though.

False alarm, I seem to be standing corrected. I went out to snap a picture of it and save my current dash file, but I couldn't replicate what I saw the other day. When I switched it back into dash only mode just now there were no needle/transparency issues. It appears we are good there. :D

Side note, any changes to the odometer function between TS versions 3.0.5 and 3.0.10? In 3.0.5 it still didn't like hibernation, and it eventually became a negative number for some reason.

Nope, I don't think so.

I haven't done a lot of testing on hibernation with that, need to.
