New TS on New Computer, after 2 years

For discussion of Phil Tobin's Tuner Studio software (Only about the tuning software itself, not about how to tune or firmware features)

New TS on New Computer, after 2 years

Post by cmonref »

Just paid for TS Ultra and want to get back in the MS game. After 2 years of operating MS3 on the car, it has been off the road for 2 years for paint and other work. I have left both TS and MS3 alone for the 2 years, figuring on updateing both after returning to the road and reestablishing the tune.

#1: The TS Ultra will be installed on a new computer. Is there a way to transfer the old TS from the old computer to the new computer so that the current tune will come across along with the dashboard from the old computer and TS?

#2: I don't see TS Ultra on the EFI Analytics site. Do I download "TS MS" and then, does the TS Ultra Registration "turn on" the Ultra-specific items?

You can create a "Project Backup" on the old computer under the menu:
File --> Vehicle Projects --> Create Project Backup

Then take that file to the new computer. If you double click it, TS will open and import that project to your new computer.

It is the same installer. When you enter the Ultra registration key, it will activate the Ultra features.

Thanks, Phil. It has been a long time and I am REALLY rusty. And progress keeps marching on ...

Phil: could not find File-->Vehicle Projects-->Create Project Backup in my old TS (2.6.19). Used instead: File-->Project-->Export Project Archive, and it created file MyCar<date-time>.tsproj which was 435,920 KB. Does this sound like the correctly-made file to be used on the new computer by double-clicking the file and letting TS open and import it?

Yes, it changed names in 3.0

That is pretty large, it must have a lot of data logs. You can create the backup without log files too.

Looks like a success! I had saved old datalogs and MSQs and some EAE logs as directories within TunerStudioProjects directory and the "archive" dutifully included each one of those for the project archive. Result: the 435 MB file. Removed those big directories and redid the archive -- the project file was now 935 KB and was created -- and read in -- in seconds. Thanks, Phil!

Now to get it to talk to MS3 thru the Bluetooth adapter wired thru the DB15 ...
