Custom channel settings... v.immissingsomething

Custom channel settings... v.immissingsomething

Post by Six_Shooter »

Ok, so I'm trying to set up a custom channel, just trying the basics for now, so I can get more crafty later.

MS3X, TS MS v3.0.18

Anyway, I'm not getting the results I'd expect from this.

So I'm using the simple editor (don't have Ultra... yet), and while I CAN get stuff to happen, it's definitely not what I'd expect.

So it seems that there's something up with the conversion and 4 points that doesn't seem to be as straight forward as I'd expect.

So far I'm just using an extra ADC channel to compare to. The extra ADC channel (ADC11) is from the JimStimX board, and I have a gauge set up to read it through the Generic Sensors input, which reads fine, both in a linear setting and raw, and I get the values I expect in both settings.

However when I use the same logic with the custom channel set up, it doesn't work as expected.

For starters, there seems to be an issue with the ADC to volts conversion drop down. When I select no conversion Sometimes the point 2 Input Values goes wild, which seems to be influenced by any setting that was there with a different conversion. However the more odd part seems to be that when I select a certain conversion, the point 2 value seems to follow other conversions. I.E. If I select the 8 bit conversion point 2 often changes to 1023 (or there abouts) when matches the 10 bit value, same for the 10 and 12 bit conversion, the point 2 values seem to be quite odd.

The other thing I'm having difficulty with is using existing channels, the main one I'm trying to get to read right now for later ideas is the AFR to display in the custom channel the same way it does in the regular gauge. So far I've somehow been able to get it to read one tenth of the proper values, but I don't seem to know how to replicate that again.

Ok, as I was typing this I was trying different things to try to be able to explain what is happening and it seems I've stumbled on how to make the AFR aand my new AFR gauge read the same, but it doesn't seem like it should be this difficult to get it to work this way.

Anyway, I used the Point 1 input value of 0, point 1 output value of 0. point 2 input value of 5 (it seemed to get auto set to this when I changed the ADC conversion to no conversion and then clicked "Ok") and a point 2 output value of 1023...

I would have thought the input values should have been either the 0 and 5, or 10 and 20 of the calculate AFR channel, and output values of 10 and 20?

Can someone explain why this reads correctly with teh values I'm using now? Both the original AFR gauge and my new custom channel read the same, with these values... *confused*

Can you post your custom.ini where it is acting screwy?
Or specific inputs. That helps a great deal to see what you are seeing.

It's not a custom .ini, I'm just using the custom channel editor in TS 3.0.18, with a fresh install of MS3 1.5.

The input was using AFR1, so that I could match the new channel to the exiting readout to get a feel for it, because I was hoping I could take this farther and use it to average two WBO2 inputs to then use one of the generic PWN outputs to send the averaged value to an AFR gauge. But I've been informed that this is not possible and that the custom chanells or only for TS and logging not used within the hardware itself.

I'd still like to know why the settings don't make sense to get the correct output.

The settings I used to get a matched reading I listed in the first post.

After adding a channel with the Custom Channel editor or Add Custom Channel Wizard

There will be a custom.ini file in the dir:

[YourTunerStudioProjectFolder]/projectCfg/

That will show me what you actually have.
