No connection with linux

Hi team,
Can someone please help me get the new laptop connected. I'm new to Linux and not sure how to proceed. (old windows lappy died and I figured this might be more reliable)
Just need to know what I've missed. MS1

Update...
Managed to get it to connect by the following however if I unplug the USB or reboot laptop I need to do this over. Anyone got any ideas how to make it connect automatically?
I did
lsusb
Then plugged USB to serial adapter in
lsusb
dmesg | tail
sudo chown :administrator /dev/ttyUSB0
