Cannot open downloaded tunes

For discussion of Phil Tobin's Tuner Studio software (Only about the tuning software itself, not about how to tune or firmware features)

Cannot open downloaded tunes

Post by rickb794 »

Under File
select Load Tune
a file selection window pops up
I cd to admin
then try to cd to the downloads folder and it won't let me.

OSX latest version of TS broke this. v3.0.22

I have reproduced this...
It isn't 3.0.22 though, I tested back to 2.6.19 and it still can't change to the downloads folder.
It looks like Apple has changed something to break the file chooser.
It seems each release of OS X gets buggier any more.

I'll have to look for the work arounds again.

I am on an older OSX install 10.9.5
And TS "did" break with the last update.

Any ideas on for a non-digital workaround?
I'd rather not have to have a M$ box in front of me at the same time to view MSQ's
Im already brain damaged, and will invariably grab the wrong mouse or bang on the wrong keyboard.

Can I back down TS version?
What would I loose?
I don't tune with the MAC it is my workstation, all tuning done on EeePC running XP.

I've noticed browsing through folders is teadious at best. I've always blamed it on the Java-part.
Currently I've arranged my setup so that I don't have to change folders.

I don't think it's smart to be using 2 different versions of TunerStudio and exchanging tunes between them.

Maybe choosing a different theme on the Mac-version of Tunerstudio will help some.

Actually, the TS version shouldn't matter too much. So long as it can open the MSQ/ini without complaining about "inispec version" it should send and receive the correct data.

The problem I'm having is drilling down to the files. The picker does not want to navigate past the top layer. I guess I could move my download folder to the top level and try that.

I think BigBlockMopar hit on the work around. Changing the look & feel to Metal and now it seems to browse to the downloads folder. It seems the problem is tied to the Mac OS Look & Feel.

BigBlockMopar , Most of the time I really don't worry much about using different versions of TS with the same project. I generally keep my projects in dropbox and open them from several different PC's not worrying much about the TS version. As James said it is mostly just that that version of TS supports the needed iniSpecVersion and if it doesn't it will let you know.
Now where this might not be true is when a beta is far ahead of the stable, say when the TS 2.9.xxx betas were out and there were dashboard updates supported by TS 3, not supported by TS 2.6. Saving a dash in TS 3, then opening it in 2.6 would not work. This may have bitten you when TS 2.6 was still the stable release.

I think I do have a work around for the next patch release.
