single-key datalogging?
Is there a way I can activate datalogging with a single key? When I'm pulling into the lane at the drag strip, Ctrl-L + Enter (to accept default file name) is more cumbersome than I'd like, and it's worse when I'm in the shutdown area or poorly-lit return road trying to shut it off.
What I'd prefer is a single key to toggle datalogging on/off, preferably an F-key, as it's easy to find quickly when the laptop is sitting on my passenger seat.
Optionally, a dialog box to define a log prefix name might be nice, although that's less important, as the default time-stamp is otherwise fine.

Re: single-key datalogging?
You can set a gauge or indicator to start logging or toggle logging on a click or touch.
Many of the TS 3.0 dashboards already have that setup. To add your own, go into designer mode.
You can also set up "Triggered Logging" so it will automatically log based on the set condition.

This is what I have done. I use a windows tablet as my dashboard and have some rectangle icons that start and stop logging at the push of a button

Re: single-key datalogging?
Just setup an auto trigger for right below your burnout RPM.

The auto-trigger works nicely.
I've set it to start logging the moment the engine starts (RPM > 1).

Re: single-key datalogging?
hi guys
since you appear to be using auto logging can you enlighten me on file management please, when it starts to auto log does it create a new file and auto save the log with no intervention from driver, the manual logging asks for a push of the save button, just trying to set the auto logging up on a raspberry pi with registered tunerstudio.
thanks in advance

Re: single-key datalogging?
Autologging creates a logfile with date and time as the filename.

Re: single-key datalogging?
Doesn't auto log only log to SDCard? If the PC logging can be setup tp auto log I would be really interested in knowing how to set this up

Re: single-key datalogging?
This topic is discussing automatic logging with TunerStudio. That will create a log file on the computer that is running TunerStudio i.e. your laptop, tablet or Raspberry PI etc.
SDcard datalogging is internal to the MS3 and works independently to TunerStudio. Unless you have a computer rigidly and safely mounted, the SDcard is the best option for logging while racing.

Re: single-key datalogging?
As I started this topic a while back, I'll post up what I've found...
I originally wanted a single-click button to easily start/stop logging when I was making a pass at the dragstrip. As suggested by Phil, I went to my Tunerstudio Dash and enabled Designer Mode and made a toggle on one of my gauges.
With Designer Mode enabled, I right-clicked on my Tach gauge --> Dashboard Designer --> Set Single Click Action --> Toggle Datalogging. I also added moved the datalog indicator light right up by my tach so it was clear when it was running. Now disable Designer Mode and you're done. This has worked well for me. It doesn't prompt for a filename, it just uses the date/time.
Triggered Logging-- on the Data Logging menu at top, there's an option for Triggered Logging. It'll be pretty obvious how to use when you look at it.

Re: single-key datalogging?
I typically put the Single Click action on an indicator that is assigned to the OutputChannel "dataLoggingActive" under the Controller "Application Events"
Then the indicator itself changes to represent the logging state.
This is how the dashboards in Shadow Dash are set up, I _thought_ I had done the same with the dashboards in the beta, but it appears not. I'll update those in the next build.
