Tunerstudio Bluetooth Connection

Post by flosho »

I'm attempting to connect my Megasquirt 1 v3.0 029y4.

I'm using the EFI Analytics RS232 Bluetooth Adaptor. It connects to my Samsung Note 5 (and all other cell phones that I've attempted to connect to)

I'm trying to connect to my computer (desktop in my garage w/52" screen) to get this car started again. The desktop runs windows 10 but doesn't have native wifi or Bluetooth. I purchased a "universal" Bluetooth dongle. I'm able to connect my phone to my computer and it recognized the efianalytics12 Bluetooth device, however, when I go into TunerStudio and attempt to connect, it does not find anything!

Communications > Settings > connection type: Bluetooth Direct

When I click to Pair New Adapter it gives me an error that "Bluetooth is not enabled on this computer"

I've also tried to 'detect' the ECU firmware when starting a new project from scratch and it does not detect any connection.

As a side note - I've tried to connect it directly to the computer rs232 to USB and the computer will not recognize the MS ECU.

Does your universal dongle support BT 2.0 / 2.1?
If it is only BT 4.0 or BLE it won't work. Generally BT 4.0 devices are backward compatible.

Are there any BT drivers installed on the computer other than the standard windows BT driver?
The Windows drivers generally work, 3rd party drivers commonly cause problems.

The product seller claims it to be backwards compatible to connect to a bluetooth 2.1 device, though admittedly this is a $7 adapter.

I'm not sure if there was windows driver for it. Possibly not because there is no built-in Wi-Fi on the computer. Perhaps I'll download windows 10 Bluetooth driver and try again tonight.

Normally they work fine, even the cheap ones.
I use them on PC's without built in BT regularly.

When you put it in, it shouldn't need any drivers, windows should have it covered right out of the gate.
If they have some sort of installation driver, that is when the problems begin

Ok, deleted the aftermarket drivers. Restored default windows 10 drivers and made progress.

*ninja edit*

It now connects in Tuner Studio and shows/pairs with efi analytics but fails the port test and fails to recognize the connection when I start a new project and detect the ecu.

Is the little grey switch correct?
It should be toward the antenna.

I got it figured out to connect and come online. Now to get the car started again! It ran 4 years ago!

As a side note. I think i need to chamge the switched 12v supply to megasquirt because it constantly disconnects. Thw car is a 1981 Porsche 924. When you insert the key into the ignition that is the accessory mode. At this point MS does not turn on. The turn the key to "run" the fuel pump turns on(not prime but stays running) and megasquirt will power on and it will connect to the computer/tuner studio. Then turn the key one more notch to "start". Problem ia every time the car doesnt start i have to move the key back to accessory so it disconnects from Tuner Studio.
